More realistic hunting loot

Does anyone know what files store the data about how much loot animals drop? I’d like to adjust how much meat I can get from the forest game. Especially, from hares. I think that at this moment they drop ridiculously too much meat.

I searched in the GameData.pak, characters.pak, Objects.pak, tables.pak, but I found nothing.

I guess ingame weight is in pounds. So it is really a giant rabbit if you can get cca 10kg of meet out of it

Exactly. Any ideas how to correct this?

Even if pounds seems a lot for an animal that gets to be about 5kg. Processing (removing guts, etc) should give you much less than 10lbs

If only you could send evidence of your claim to WH support and they’d make the adjustment in the base game

I cant help here,Ilya. Maybe check with other modders on Nexus.
In general, poacher would take only the best meat out of the animal. And in amount comfortable for him to carry hidden in backpack. Thats why poachers are considered as evil by professional hunters = they hunt illegaly and they dont utilize everything. Same like illegal hunting of elephants just for the ivory/tusks or simmilar.

Roe deer vs red deer too. Roe deer at smaller ( at least as shown in the game) so should yield less. In addition : why no antlers on them? Are they all female?

It’s summer… time for deer to have velvet (not fully developed and hardened antlers), at least in N America

Tell that to the devs that have them on the red deer stags.
Guess they need an excuse for the alchemy recipe.

Funny because at least in E Asian medicine the velvet antlers are (allegedly) more pharmacologically active (theory: blood and hormones promoting growth)

Yesterday I checked the rabbit weight datas again. I was wrong. I killed one fat bastard. He had 30 “pieces” of meat. Each piece weight 0.2 ingame pounds. So it should be close to 3kg of meat. Not so far from reality, maybe a bit on optimistic side. What is wrong is the price. 1/30th of rabbit meat costs 5 groschen . One chicken, well fed, cost not even 1 grosch in those times.
First of all,why would anyone chop rabbit in 30 pieces? Second, rabbits, same as chickens, were bought and usually roasted in one piece. Another way was to cook a stew with big chunks of meat.
The game is missing badly cooking system. You should be able to set your own fireplace and roast the rabbit/chicken/small piglet and it must take TIME. With actual autocooking and gulash pots spammed everywhere it just encourages players to abuse this dumb game mechanics.
What to do?

  1. cancell instant miraculous cooking of poached meet into sellable item
  2. Poaching should stay only as game Activity (doing small jobs for shady inkeepers/butchers etc)
  3. Cancell all public accessible cooking pots. Those in private houses/inns should not be available to player. Would you allow stranger to cook in your kitchen?
  4. Introduce possibility to set up your own fireplace
  5. Introduce basic cooking/roasting. Like rabbit stew, you would need rabbit, some vegetables, salt, vine and some herbs. Cooking takes real time (1-2h)

One of the pre-release vids seemed to suggest cooking. Like smithing appears to have been left on chopping block

Regarding realism and time to develop, think tailor and armorsmith carry too much ‘ready fit’ inventory. As with cooking, in a more realistic implementation, they should take some time to get ready for Henry

Nicely put, Brano. Why don’t you send your suggestions to support@kingdomcomerpg.com? I think it is the best place, since the developers hardly read all the threads here.

Concerning the subject, I’d say that a forest rabbit, that is, a hare will hardly give that much meat. 3 kg is closer to a farm rabbit which is fed deliberately. However, I was estimating in a different way. Usually, eating a whole rabbit is enough to stuff yourself. Two rabbits into one mouth is an absolute maximum for an average adult. In the game, however, it is enough to eat 5-7 of those pieces to stuff yourself, and it is about 1/6 to 1/5 of the rabbit which drops 30 pieces. So these rabbits might be around correct weight, but their meat is somewhat too nutritious

Yes,I agree with you Ilya. Maybe later we can get some more believable balancing in nutrition, weight and prices in general. So far its too gamey to my taste. In my second playtime I restricted Henry from excesive poaching . I try to eat and drink beer in taverns as this is more lore friendly roleplaying

These are medieval rabbits… much denser than modern day rabbits.
