Must be a Massive Magic Bag

Somewhat of a spoiler for the second Riddler encounter I had, but I had to laugh when the magic bag which doubled the coins inside it every night took 60 whole days to become full. He started with 1 coin, so that would be 2^60 coins. That’s an absurd number of coins. Just over a quintillion coins. How absolutely voluminous is this Magic Bag?

A quick google search says that the smallest US coin, the dime, is 17.91mm in diameter and 1.35mm in thickness. This makes it 340.1mm^3 in volume. Assuming the magic bag was perfectly compressed dimes (impossible because of the dimes being round and all, but whatever), that would make the bag holding 392 Quintillion mm^3. That’s about 392 km^3. That’s a really, really, really big bag.

I mean, it’s a “magic” bag and the riddle is a folk legend. Maybe the bag does not actually contain the coins but “forms” a coin every time you place your hand in it? And maybe it’s “full” when it cannot create any more coins because it’s magic properties won’t allow more? Why are we looking into it again? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Oh, I understand it’s only there to serve the riddle. It’s a fun riddle too. I just was taken a back a little when the riddle said the bag wasn’t full until 60 days. So I decided to see just how big such a bag would need to be.

Still, great research there, concerning the volume and all that.

wait what is this lol
