I’ll probably get some flak for my opinion on Lockpicking, but here goes…
Platform: Xbox One X
I’ve been playing the game since release, and have been reading the forums as well.
First off I would like to state one thing I’ve noticed scheduled to change due to popular player demand, that I think is actually a perfectly balanced game mechanic; Lockpicking.
Lockpicking maybe took me 15-20 minutes of grinding at the practice chest to get to level 10, yet when I read the forums all I hear about is how it’s impossible on Consoles, I think that’s quite the opposite, I have rarely ever failed/broken a lockpick, and again it only took me about 15 minutes of grinding to actually be able to unlock the very hard chests. My opinion: Keep it like it is.
One thing I would like to see implemented is more graphical options on the One X. I’ve side by side compared this game with a Day One Xbox and the One X. The clarity and visuals on the X are truly astounding. Sometimes I just walk around in the fields or woods, especially at night, and admire how well the developers were able to get the best out of Cryengine, sunlight reflecting through grass for instance, amazing, I would love to play this game in VR.
However, while I am one of those who definitely admires great graphics, I also greatly admire a stable framerate, so much so that I would actually put that above graphics in most cases. That said, I would love to see an option that allows for the resolution to be scaled down or other graphical options to play with to ensure a 60FPS or an Unlocked FPS. I understand this games beauty is one of the things that makes it what it is, but for us hardcore gamers, that option would be great to have, the default could be set to the max resoultion so that casual gamers might not notice it at first unless they felt the same.
Now, I want to say that I can’t believe how good this game is. I’ve encountered some near game breaking bugs, and it crashes every now and then, (Which is now no problem since I can autobrew 3 savior schnapps on one batch of ingredients) so yes, the game has it’s flaws and one needs patience at times, I have complete faith in the developers to work out the kinks in time, and they have proven they listen well to player feedback. I’ve been wanting a game like this for many years, just the other day I was dueling a knight and where I struck him on his helmet is where the helmet dented and scarred. That’s a level of realism I like to see in this generation of gaming that you just have to pause the game for a second and appreciate what just happened.
I hope this game sells millions of copies and Warhorse Studios spawns many sequels or constant DLC.
This has been my first experience with a Warhorse Studios Production, and it has been a great adventure.
