My Guide to Combat

The Transcript:

Hello
Hello and welcome to my guide on Kingdom Come: Deliverance’s combat system
This is a guide I have made through trial and error and the lessons I have learned. This is an unofficial guide and mostly opinion.
Stamina – Arguably the most import recourse in the combat.
Whether it’s blocking an attack or skewering and enemy you are using energy. The key to winning a fight is maintaining your stamina and choosing how and when to spend it efficiently.

The basics
When an attack has landed on you there is little you can do except prepare. Kingdom Come Deliverances combat works off a stamina system. Even if you fail to block an attack and you have full stamina the chances are you will survive with little to no health gone. It is important to keep a balance of stamina in case of surprise attacks or emergency defence.

Defence
There are 3 main approaches to defending yourself while being attack
A - Blocking, blocking is a simple way of ensuring that you remain unscathed, however with each block you use a portion of your stamina. If it reaches too low an enemy can break through the block and cause some damage.
B - Parrying, parrying is a special version of blocking, you block just as the attack is incoming causing a bullet time like effect that gives you time to choose which sort of response you wish to make. You can choose to then counter or move away. Unlike the block parrying causes no stamina loss.
C - Evading, evading is a more involved method of defence. You must choose a direction, press the direction at the right time and be ready for action straight after. To evade you will need to press or flick a direction in which you wish to move just as the enemy is attacking. A tip for this is to always have block ready in case you fail the evasion. If you try to evade too soon the enemy will see through it and the attack will land, too late and you will already have been hit.

Offensive
Combat – Use the lines in the middle to choose a direction you wish to attack from.

Swinging – Slashing using the combat system is an effective method against unarmoured units. This does not make it ineffective against armoured targets, you just need to land more hits.
Stabbing – By jolting your weapon tip first you can piece and damage armour causing bigger hits to those who have thicker armour. These are also better for longer range attacks.
Defence – Commonly you hear the phrase the best defence is a good offense however it can be reversed with kingdom come deliverance, by willing taking a blow or intercepting it at the right you can open up spots for attack.
Clashing – Getting too close to an enemy resolves itself by bringing the player and enemy close together weapon to weapon. Purposely getting into this situation and then pushing the enemy into a weaker location works great for getting in a good blow. In this situation you can kick, hit and shove.
Countering – By timing your blocks you can then use the parry in order to turn the momentum back towards the enemy. This can result in the enemy being shoved or even damaged by your blade. These are good for gaining control of a situation.
Combos – Lastly a good way to end a fight fast is to use combo moves. The current ones I know are
Up, Right, Bottom Left.
Left, Bottom Left, Stab
Up, Left, Bottom Right, Stab
My favourite is certainly the latter.

Tips for combat. While blocking attacks always make your way backwards or to the side. This can not only save you stamina but also give you a good shot at a return attack.
Instead of blocking while regenerating stamina take a step back to a safe distance. Remember if you’re blocking and your enemy isn’t he is recovering stamina faster.
If you’re against more than one target always play defensive. Use as many counters as you can and try to stay safe. It’s better to be alive and a day older then drenched in your own blood with less time to live

Thank you for watching I hope you enjoyed. If you want to see more of my Kingdom come deliverance content there is a link in the description where you can see me do several quests. These videos have narrative so if that’s not your thing sorry.

Really useful. Thanks

That guide was amazing! Thank you friend!

I’m worried about the effects of the swords clashing with each other. In real life they do not do this at all. If they do, something is indeed wrong!

It looks cool though, I’d take aesthetics over reality any day.

Yes, but I was under the impression that this was a ‘realistic’ open world first person medieval RPG.
Regardless in my opinion the effect is pretty lame and doesn’t add any more immersion to the game and it is just kinda cheap. That’s just my opinion.

I understand where you are coming from but if this game was ‘realistic’ to the bone it’d be a very depressing and boring game, it’s still a RPG which generally exaggerate certain aspects for the wow factor.

I doubt a blacksmith who lost his father would go around helping random people without asking for a set hefty price.

Who says we wont be asking for a hefty price?

The fact I can’t stab them and take their purse :frowning:
