Like many others i first thought the game had some issue with R2 on PS4. And maybe this issue indeed existed. But after the patch i found that i still got weird behaviour when trying to shoot arrows and use R2 in combat.
Turns out both of my dualshock 4 controllers were over time “loosened” out on the triggers, thus making it difficult to notice. On some games it did not show. But on KCD it really showed up( and also on games that use R2 as gas pedal). So i bought this cheap hori mini wired gamepad (~10€) that doesn’t have those adjustable R2 triggers like ds4 has, and look and behold the issues went away. And actually there really is no need for that gradual triggers in KDC it feels faster when the triggers don’t have that much travel. and usually only driving games need that feature anyways.
So anyways i hope this helps some of you who may have issues with your R2/L2 still. It’s not that the triggers completely stop working on DS4 it’s more gradual progress sometimes.
My advice is that before you buy expensive controller try out the cheap one because you never know it might be just as good for your purpose.
also no more lockpicking stutters because the gamepad has no rumble
