Mysterious Ways quest: help please (spoilers for this quest)

I’m nearing the end (i think) of the Mysterious ways quest where you’re looking for Limpy Lubosh’s killer or information on said subject.

I’ve failed (intentionally) to get the priest’s help because I don’t want to be carousing past curfew and break the laws, as I’m playing a good character. I’ve spoken to the baliff and he sent me to the scribe in Rattay… which is locked constantly as far as I can tell, with no way inside to see him other than to pick the lock (also a crime).

How do you proceed with this main quest without breaking the law? Thanks.

I’ve done extra digging and looked up a walkthrough video of the quest and the doors aren’t supposed to be locked. My version of the game may be bugged. Can anyone confirm there’s an issue here. I’ve waited every hour from 7 to 19 to check. Always locked with a hard lock that I literally am not allowed to attempt

…My door was locked for me also. Not sure how to get around this bug tho. :hugs:

well with lockpicking of my level you can’t even attempt the hard and very hard locks. Also, your commentary isn’t appreciated and I consider it harassment at this point. leave me alone or I will inform the moderators

I’d honestly just go enjoy the rest of the game for a bit then. There is so much to do, many side quests and characters to meet. I honestly probably had about 60hours if game play before I got to where you are. Go have some extra fun.

You can enter the scribe room/house through the bailiff room and then speak to him without committing any crimes.
