Nameless, undokumented 212 MB Hotfix in Steam... magic!

First impression… i’ll keep reporting

Ok, some things can be reported:

  • distance sliders are no longer bound to the settings of Texture, Details, Vegetation
  • huge (!) graphical downgrade - vegetation now looks like in 2006 (arma I)
  • still some fps drops at know areas, but overall smooth streaming, way better (due to completely removed objects!)
  • Bianca’s ring still missing :wink: (reportedly other items, too)
  • Sound is way better adjusted in dialogues and the like
  • no more random encounters - just ambushes and lonely wanderers

I’d like to know what this patch was about… was it the hotfix to adress the graphic settings not working correctly?
It has probably also done some optimization then…
I loaded it, too the game still says 1.3.1 though
but I’m impressed how fast they delivered this patch

Really; a new 212mb ontop of the 5gb earlier today?

And as a hot fix it is addressing graphical settings sliders?

ah well, i thought that patch gonna bring back the random encounter etc

ok, after a few hours, no random encounters at all so far…
Pop-in stones on paths are gone - literally they have been REMOVED^^

seriously? I’m getting encounters almost anytime I fast travel.

Nope. All day without seeing a soul.

If you refer to ambushes and strolling hikers, agreed.
But there are no more beggars, treasure map sellers, poachers, even the faint-hearted knight is completely ‘gone’…

Yep, that is what I was referring to. I don’t remember seeing any of the other ones you’ve mentioned either.

After around 6 more hours of gameplay, I found a wanderer making a break who sold me a treasure map - YAY … some kind of random encounter

So has this new hotfix butchered the vegetation quality regardless of settings further or what?

I cannot say for sure, I have seen bad textured leaves of grass before the patching, too…

Here is my present view (1.3.1 + 212 MB) … settings are ‘very high’ + 2 TXAA
