Need help in "the prey" (spoilers)

Alright…ahunting with Hans Capon, and the idiot got caught by Cumans.

I tried no less than 30 times to rescue him. in the rare instances of the coman sitting so he cant see me, when I approach him, and the button propmt comes up to knock him out. I press it, and nothing happens.

If I try to fight them, I end up a lump of hacked meat, all the time. (I only have a bludgeon and a dagger, can’t use the dagger, for whatever reason)

If I sneak up to Hans and unty him, we sneakily flee for a few yards, then the cumans are on my arse again and hack me to bits…

I really don’t know how I am supposed to free him.

Face shot them with the bow then go back to town and buy a better weapon. Also the dagger only works for stealth kills at level 5 stealth with the perk.

The fact you can’t knock him out is probably a bug.

Use your bow, keep back pedalingand keep sticking them. Worked for me but i love archery. May take a few tries but the bow can even two shot runt later in the game. Aim for the neck

Reason you cant knock him out is because their strength is higher than yours.

I expended all my arrows hare hunting against Hans… In my desperation tried one last time, failed, ran through the forrest from one of them like a scared bitch, found one tourney arrow, and despite being utter shite at archery, shot the dude in the face…

Then sneaked back to their camp, found the archer was still asleep and rann over hacking away at him until he surrendered …

Now, I would love to get some training in either archery or sword fighting, but it seems the quests keep coming relentlessly and without a pause

You wint get any good training until after you kill runt, then you can duel sir bernard and have him train you in master strike, spam those they raise weapon skill.

Archery just takes practice no abilities for it just keep using it in fights and pick up arrows that miss.

Don’t get lulled into the false sense of urgency. I did the same thing and blazed through the main quest because it all had that sense of urgency. But you can actually just leave the main quest for days and go off adventuring and training with Bernard.

The only bit where you actually had to do something within a certain time is when you ride with captain Bernard and his soldiers. Just a heads up, not a spoiler.

Might want To explain to him how to train with bernard. I dont know how you did it exactly before the neuhof quest was finished. But i know when he saves capin the quest starts and i think the window will be gone that you used.

@Stotek unfortunately you’re right. Only after “ginger in a pickle” quest will he return to rattay to train with.

@lutzderlurch which brings me to another point. I don’t want to give away too much, but when you get to a town called neuhof, ONLY report findings to captain Bernard. If you see sir radzig there IGNORE him. I spoke to radzig in my first playthrough and it derailed and bugged captain Bernard for the rest of the game. Only, I didn’t realise till many hours later.

Yeah i am also on my 2nd run and doing things smarter.

Also dont get down about the combat it is hard because you are 16 and only ever used a blade at dinner. As you practice and play the combat is soooooo rewarding

Yeah, I toke the “when the men are ready” as a leve to wash myself, sell crap and get me ready, but as soon as i left the upper bailey, i failed the mission

yupp. I understand it is supposed to be hard. just wished to have the chance to practice inbetween some mission…

I think henry being 16-18 makes the most sense, but one of my issues with the game is, that his face is rather late 20s early 30s, and his voice actor is definately at least 30s…

I think his look and voice fit him. I had facial hair like that by junior year.

ive read that before from someone else.

Never notice Big-R there, to be honest… XD

first time i did this i just snuck up and freed him then we ran off. a different cutscene will play if you ran away or if you killed the cumans

when I freed him, he sat down after a few yards, and the cumans came after us. So a few tries and some dumb luck later, I succeeded by shooting one cuman in the face, and killing the other in his sleep, THEN freeing Hans.
