Need help with combat

It seems I am noob. I mastered loads of games with more or less complex systems, but it seems kdc gets the better of me. I trained as much as I could, but trainimg seems like “gimme money ans get a statpoimt” no actual training involved. Now I a, stuck to search a body but the other guy is killing me over and over. 16 times last night. The night before I could beat the Cz,as who captures Hans pretty easy. But the next Storyline gets me. For me it feels umfair. The reasons for that are as follows. The enemy hits through my block and even through my perfect blocks, evades with slomo wont work because he hits me in Animation and I start to struggle. It seems that the enemy is not bound by rules of the game. I even shot him with the arrows in the chest and he kept coming. Everytime he hits my block I lose huge amounts of Stamina. So my attacks, arw parried one after antother not matter if I chain them or not. Workes the night before, always remeber that.

Fact is I cannot train combat because ser robart ist taking a dump in the courtyaed of a farm and I am getting my ass handed to me by some sort of bandit behemoth who works outside of the games realmmof rules.

Any suggestions except the “git good shit?” Remember I want to learn, but I am noz allowed to!

Is that those 2 bandits in the forest during the Ginger in peril or whatever the name of that quest is? I had trouble with those two - and Sir Robard will help with these two if need be. But otherwise, I find that dodging is a better tactic then blocking because blocking may still hurt you, whilst not with dodge. Also, master-strikes (ripostes) are very good aswell in my opinion. Try using those.

Alternatively, if you’re really stuck, you can take a bow, sprint away a little, shoot an arror at the man, run a way a little more, shoot him again and repeat until he is dead.

I got stuck on those 2 bandits aswell so i waited still night i sneaked up on them strangled one of them and woke up the other but at least now it was a 1v1 so i killed him then killed the other guy who was unconscious.

the game has lots of creativity there are many ways to engage a battle you can try to shoot one down and kill the other or even try to poison there food, or just call the captain for help

That is exactly what I did as well. While some other fights seemed really trivial that one appeared pretty hard to me too. But it is really great that the game offers those different ways to solve missions. It might not have benn the “honorable” way, but it got the job done

Thanks for the advices guys. Sadly ser Robart is doing shit about them now, because I ran towards the dead guy stole the quest item and ran away. Now I am off to the second charcoal burners but I am scared shitless about what happens next. I guess I need a proper sword and not that machete crapthing I use

After trying this mission for 20th time out of frustration i got a trainer. I’ll play again without trainer once i figure out the combat. Is it possible yo map all combat keys to keyboard and not mouse? Might be easier to throw a combo or feint just by pressing a few keys rather than making endless circles, elipses with the mouse.

if you choose the right option and with a little high persuasion you can completely finish the quest with out any bloodshed you wont even have to kill those 2.

as i said there are many ways to finish the quests and be warned sometimes because of your choice you can miss a cut scene or get a different cut scene. what i mean some choices you make may trigger a cut scene while the others dont

dont train to much with the trainer

I cant really explain in detail but know this if you train to much your level will become very high you can kill the trainer with practice weapon in one hit you will become that strong and dont worry WH is currently trying to fix this

Right now I have not attacked anyone. The robber on the Floor was already dead, maybe I should have took the body to plunder

I killed them more on principale than anything else. I dislike bandits.

Here are my tips… I’ve played the game for 60+ hours on 2 playthroughs testing and honing my skills and I think what I have to say will help.

You need to stay passive in the beginning until yoy are comfortable with the combat mechanics.

Don’t be afraid to turn and sprint away if you feel overwhelmed, cresting distance so you can replan/gather yourself is something you should make a habit of.

Learn how to do perfect blocks, often times enemies are open to attack when you perfect block.

When attacking change your attack zone opposite of where your enemy guard is… for example if he’s holding sword up swing from bottom left or right. Going in the opposite zone makes it harder for them to block.

Do fients when you want to go offensive. Do this by holding the attack button down in the direction you want to attack then move to another direction and release. This is harder foe enemies to block.

When you attack your opponent and they don’t perfect block, keep pressing. Even if it’s just a normal block Keep pressing the attack and change directions, I know it’s easy to be cautious but if yur enemy will allow you to keep attacking with no counter you need to take advantage. You will eventually learn combos and getting in the habit of executing chained strikes will help you execute them once you learn. An opponent can block all your strikes but unless they do perfect blocks you will eventually hurt them with the unblockable combo.

I unlocked combos but never get them through. I was fighting aggressive or passive with the first group of robbers for 4 hours and countless attempts. I am not able to wrap my head around why the enemy is able to deplete huge amounts of stamine with his axe at onece whilst parrying everything I threw at him. I giess the combat system is not for me, also the saves piss me of royally. I am sad about it, and I know it is my Problem, but I backed it 5 years ago, I Love the narrative, the Design and everything, but I cannot wraü,my head around combat. For me it feels sluggisch and indirekt.

Well actually I did find my mistake, I used a sword with a much higher AGI than my char had. After I fixed that throug getting my ass handed to my by Bernhard for couple of hours I did manage to kill the Bandits very easy

Thanks for the help

you can train (actually train with your own hands and not just pay money for lvl up) for free with Bernard in Rattay. Just choose a training combat on wooden or real swords with him in the dialogue options

Did you read my last entry? The problem I had was a not matching attribute for the sword
