please help. I can’t eat in the game now. I can’t press the e button when I’m in the game. I bought a new computer because of this game. Please help me to do this.
Reload old save? Does solve a lot of this type of bugs.
And also look at it from the bright side; now you surely get that anorectic achievement.

Configuratie controller?
I got and installed this game anew from Epic now and have precisely this same problem: I sit down at a table, get the bean soup in my inventory, open inventory, select the soup, press “e” and nothing happens. Tried “shift+E”, cliccking the “e” icon, nothing.
I see some advice here, so I will try, but I raise my brows at his kind of problem still occurring. I mean, without key-to-action binding the character is krippled… and often (as in the case of eating) is bound to die. 
afaik u have to hold E down
