Newest Radeon Driver Overlay Crash

Don’t know if it has effected other players, but after updating my radeon drivers to the latest version ive gotten crashes in-game every 5-7 minutes.
Upon inspection Ive noticed that the newest Radeon Driver comes with an Overlay which to my knowledge cannot be turned off within the AMD Radeon Preferences Menu, and Once I updated my Graphics Driver and the overlay was on by default my game would crash. After disabling AMDOW.exe within the Program Files\AMD\Cnext\Cnext folder (by renaming it admow_old.exe), my game now runs without issue.

For some reason radeon decided I need an mandatory Overlay (amdow.exe), and some sort of DVR (amddvr.exe) program running all the time, which not only cause issues for me with this game, but a few others.
I just wanted to share this to the forum in case other players experience crashes after updating Drivers, in case the crashes are related.

I have an RX580 8gb and using the latest drivers since they came out I’ve had no crashes in the game.

I use an older 7970, paired with a FX8350 and 32GB Ram. Crosshair V formula-Z mobo. I run everything on Low in game mostly for FPS.

I have the same CPU as does my wife, such a warhorse (no pun intended!) comfortably OC to 4.4ghz or so on air

Ah, just maybe the very latest driver could cause issues with older cards like that one. The overlay however should not show up unless enabled. Make sure for instance that the recording option called “ReLive” is not turned on in the driver settings. It should be off by default.
