Next Beta Update

I would like to know when the next beta update will be and what it will include. More quests at least? Oh, and bug fixes

I’d be excited but it’s been 3 weeks now and the launcher is still broken for me

I understand your pain man. I’ve had the same problem as you for some time. Can’t wait for a fix. I want to play the beta so badly!

does anyone know if we will be getting another iteration of this product any time soon before the game is released? Aren’t the features supposed to be complete in the beta? I’m ok with most of the game play, i would just like to see the finished product. I think most of the bugs etc. can possibly only be found once we have access to all the content.

There has been no official statement on whether or not there will be another update to the Beta.

At E3 this year we are supposed to be getting an updated release date. Other then that there has been little news on development.

No new quests or locations or story. That would ruin the game. There will be new updates, and soon* which is a relative term. Definitely before final release there will be updates. The game is unlikely to be finished this year. Some time between now and release though, there will be more updates to the beta. Bug fixes will be the most important thing, although new content like crafting or new weapons are a possibility.

I think I’m done with playing the first-patch beta version. It’s just so buggy it’s too frustrating to play and we’re not getting paid to be alpha (this ain’t beta quality) testers. And many of the bugs we find seem to be related to the infamous load/store isn’t working quite right so we can’t save and reload games in the event of a freeze or crash.

Anyway, if there’s another beta patch I’ll spend time with it. Otherwise I (and I suspect many others) will just wait (and probably wait and wait) for the released version to appear.

well considering there is only about 10-20 hours of gameplay (if you are really curious), I am done with this version for about month now  Most bugs has been already reported, those which are not are still mainly because of saveload, so yeah… patiently waiting for next update for another round of bugfindings and combat system testing

Is it just me, or have WH gone pretty quiet on the PR front?

Understandable this close to E3 and all. But I still think the level of interaction especially with the community here has dropped off in a noticeable way :expressionless:

What exactly do you mean, i think that the state of comunication is the same as before beta.

Really? Maybe just my impression then…

But for me, in terms of actually addressing a release date / release window, and the release strategy (multi-platform) etc. There’s never been anything official. Unless I missed something that is?

There was official statement, that more official statements regarding release strategy will be covered on E3  I don“t think there is much else to say.

It is easy to understand what he mean… he notice not the amount of comunication
but the presence of WH in his own forum. It seems to be more like other ā€œnormalā€ studios.
Short, we miss them here. In Detail, in the past we were closer to them.
I understand that there are at the moment to much work…
so much that Dan can’t tell me from where he got his cool shirts

Truth be told there never was much of WH team present here.
But yes @Vik and @MadSmejki were posting here more often in the past, but lately there is not much to say.
When I look on the latest topics, there are litte of them concerning actual mechanics or the game, most of them are some bugs, or problems or hypotetical dicussions.

And you have to realise that there is more and more work as we are trying to finish the game, and writing even short post does takes up some time.
Even this short post I am writing took me more than I would like.

To cut it short, if you want devs to take part in the forum, you have to create right topics and discussions, and ask right questions. (and even then it is not guaranteed that you will get your answers)

The thing that might seem like less participation from WH side is lack of comments from moderators (who are not exactly part of WH).
But as official statments go, I dont think there is fewer of them, there always were not much of them.

Do you know if the release date has been officially moved to fall/winter or are they still releasing it in the summer?

Nothing was officialy moved or announced. Only that official statement will be made at E3.

Its not just you I have felt the same way for some time now.

The dev team has always been less active the PR team and the moderators.

I just miss actually hearing something of the progress of the game, like current features being worked on.

we used to certainly see more abouy progress posted on twitter and FB and now its all PR related travel where all the info is being given to media and less of any communication or updated info to the backers.

As of april 1st I stepped down as a moderator, so I will not be a valuable source of information anymore sorry mate.

You are right, but the problem is a little different. Last year we had all 1,5-3 months a new version/update. There was always something new. New features, new grafic, new parts of the world. We had to discuss about everything. Nothing was set in stone.
Every update was like a litte christmas. Open the packet, you donĀ“t know whats inside…

Now after the beta, there is no announcement for an ā€œprogressā€.
There will come some bugfix, maybe subtittles,… but nothing exciting.

In one point is WH right,… no more from the storry, but whatĀ“s with new features, like dog companion, like forge. Improve battle. Cooking and much more.
It would be helpful (for the game) bringing this kind of stuff. And everything must be tested. With every new feature you get much more bugs. All this must be sorted out.

I think this was very helpful in general. They showed the best sides of the game. The publicity was good; much better than the real state of the beta.

But now itĀ“s time to make the ā€œhomeworkā€. Give every 2 moths a feature update (and anounce this!).
This IS extrawork, but WH has to stay in focus, with positive news.

Why not make a poll about the (game) intro, or something else?

Looks like they are working on a new video. It’s high time for this!!! Yes there could be more comunication…

Agreed, and that’s really what I was referring to. We’ve dropped down a few rungs in terms of focus for updates and official communications… I get the reasoning.

And Proky this isn’t me complaining either. Purely an observation…I’d suggest that the predominant reason there hasn’t been a great deal of activity by way of new topics or discussions here on the forums, is mainly in part due to the lack of detail or updated information that’s been made available to us from the team. It’s a catch-22 scenario really. We can only re-cover old ground for so long.

@rataj and @Blacksmith understand what we’re saying
