No wolves and modern looking forests?

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if some Warhorse environmental artist have take the time to use a lawn mower in forests

If I remember well in beta (yeah I know it’s not a good idea to compare to a beta ;-)), forests were looking much more like pristine forest. I remember not being able to see anything from a distance (almost) while traveling inside a forest, now I can easyly galop in the middle of the forest without any efforts and I can also see far from a distance under trees. I think they have cut down many bushes and fallen trees to allow the player riding horse while in forests.

Historically speaking, forests were already looking like that during that period, they looks like modern forests ? (I don’t know at all so we need an expert here). Same goes for wolves, I was expecting wolves and not to feel completely safe in the forest at night. I’m not talking of wolves models or anything, but just wolves howls for exemple. Were they already eradicated by man at this time ? (Again I don’t know at all).

Actually Forrests were a Big economic Factor Back then. Lindybeige has an interesting Video about this on YouTube.
Wolves certainly were Not extinct, howling at night would actually be quite cool.

Thank you very much for your answers. This video is indeed very interessting and in fact it looks like I was wrong regarding bushes. If forests were already managed by man at this tims, it’s normal that they have this “garden” look in the game.

You can acquire wolf fangs in this game and raven feathers for a quest - I haven’t seen either. Perhaps you can however shoot the flock of ravens you see dispersing from the occasional tree - haven’t tried. However my point is I wish there was a larger variety of wildlife. However the devs are ultimately super busy with bugs right now I’d assume.
