It seems that this game necessitates a aim-lock sticky system. So my question is: If I got a game-pad with a micro-joystick (360 degree input), does the game support such free combat? Or is the sticky-combat hardcoded into the game?
The way the combat has been designed around the idea of dueling means players focus generally gets locked onto a single combatant at a time. There is a way to shift this focus, but my understanding is that you must be locked onto a target in order to attack and defend accordingly. This was how it worked in the beta
Unsure as to whether or not more freedom will be permitted in the final release. We’ll have to wait and see

you can swing generally at people, but once you hit them, it will auto lock
I couldn’t remember if we were able to perform controlled and directed attacks outside of combat lock or not? I remember not, and as you say they were just generic swipes or strikes… is that right?
Ah well. Sad to hear.
