Not A Finished Game?

Yes, I wholeheartedly agree…

It wasnt right to reply to your “even whitedragem should concede”…notion at the end of that post;it was a thread I had created; one I had even tried to keep ontopic initially (actually trying to have posts kept relevant).
If I had offered a defensive responce at any level, the few zealots accusing me of working for WH because I have an opinion different to their own ‘anytopic OT rants’… it would have likely led to the death of a perfectly workable thread.

One I knew WH to be reading…

Yes; If I had been at any company meetings come the week after launch I would have proposed very different strategies to meet the market.
(Yes- an official info channel via video updates being a large part of it).

We dont really comprehend what the t3am are going through.
Language barriers to a world market? Quite likely…
And every country raises a different style of humour etc. I do think their cust relations team could benefit from being outside their home country.

All the same- this is but a brief moment in time. I dont need to sound judgy on them.
Kinda comes with being a parent (phenominal patience)

I dont know the studio, and can only emphatically understand them through their actions (or inaction).

What I see?
Unyielding resolve to make their vision.
It never stopped just because a few tweens and ‘foot in mouthers’ yell loudly that ‘they dont care’; I see wikkid amounts of effort to right an oversight,a few bugs, and a few quest glitches.

They have had misfortune w/r (with regards) to patches to fix exacerbating some other issues (all for some users).
I get that part of their oversight was letting out a product that might not work for everyone.
I dont think it is as evil intent or other nonsensical descriptions… they have a product they deserve to be proud about achieving. I look forward to when they can sit back and be acknowledged.

I personally see their product as saleable, and well made. I know this flies against the grain here, for some, and those ‘some’ are very vocal.

I do not deny others their ‘sufferances’ if thats how they want to feel.
(I laugh, not out loud, at the users who troll this forum daily to complain and make out like they are being required to do so ‘in order to get update info’. And then blame a game studio for their time on the internet as well as for making a miserable game (not my opinion)- the only consistant thing in their life is the misery they take with them in everything they do)

Many people can come here and get support/celebrate with a (like minded) community and also be close to what is happening/latest info with this game.

The more rational I sp3ak in threads the more direct dialogue with QA testers (@WH) and others seems to happen.
Being here is great. Ruthan has technical tweets with DV and the combined/shared knowledge that can be found here is fantastic.

We just have to choose what diet we wish to grow up on. (Id like a healthy one devoid of anger and focused on nurture).

I did inbound support via call centres for many years (managed a couple too) and the customers screaming the most often just need a lil help in a timely respectable fashion and they become very happy again, or whatever they most like to be…

The internet is where many socially odd people can accrue in largish groups and get swept up in their own voice. If their voice is sound- thats a good thing… but when people who cant find a group (usually due to their social skills) jump from forum to forum being crazed unreasoning evangelists for disinformation and distraction… it becomes an issue.

I do not wish to force change peoples will. Or talk over them or devalue right thinking.
I would like to be able to jump into a thread with a given heading and not have to waste half an hour trying to find the meat amoungst thirty off topic rants saying the same things I just read by the same people in fifteen other threads (none of which is the topic of their angered assaults).

This isnt personal.
Anyone angered by my words- deal with it- you are actually just angry. My words might reveal that, but it isn’t a me-you thing.

When I write/reply to some specifically it is generally with an awareness that others more fitting to my response might read it as well.
Nobody needs to do ego warfare. It doesnt help.

This forum should prove an exception to the norm. Generally throughout computing history-RPGers were a select bunch.

Diablo and Skyrim did a lot to break down those walls.
Whilst I like it when games can appeal to many, KCD is highly misunderstood by people buying based on graphics, and system usage… (I have installed Crysis hundreds of time but mostly as a tech demo/way to see if a new build is stable under load…never actually played the game to completion; it doesnt interest me).
When crysis came out I knew it would only be a matter of time until someone used cryengine to make a medieval role playing game.

KCD is the first new release title (sans some online competitive games) I have bought in many years. I even waited a half year for Persona (5) to drop in price and havent preordered Ni No Kuni II.

Whilst I could go all ‘medieval on their ass’ for the release they gave me and having to read through these forums; being older than twenty, I have enough maturity to recognise I actually want to be on these forums and the game is actually pretty effin brilliant and is only a small block of time away from garnering 9-10 review scores for the rest of its known life.

I can wait. (Again- I am older than ‘that seventies show’)

Yep. I’m at 12 stealth natural with a +2 with buffs…I can literally sneak kill bandit camps, during the day, and I even all but walked up on a bandit looking right at me, swooped around to his back like 10 feet away from him and then stealth killed him…people wanna be ninjas but don’t wanna level their sneak skill

WH needs to improve their change mgmt. if they were marketing medical device software, they’d be causing clinical adverse events. Don’t know if they suffer from process immaturity, need to create some procedures, need to do better risk assessment and regression testing… something needs to change ‘cause the torch, random encounter, etc corruptions are preventable and unnecessary

Your argument is unnecessarily long, boring, passive aggressive, assumes alot and goes off topic.

I thought like you for the first week but I’m sure if we discussed this youd see my point of view.
First of all comparing it to other games is easy but the reality is its exactly like it was already said. It was probably released to meet a deadline and keep revenue coming in. Not that I blame them necessarily but…
Second I can see your point about fans and completionists but if someone pays for the game and its not playable, thats my point. If the game doesnt allow you to do 2 trophies at once and it clearly states that when selling it thats fine but if I cant find a shard of Queen Shebas sword because of doors and other glitches whos to blame.
Third you cant seriously expect every player to study their glitches and report it. Thats not why you buy a game.
Fourth and my main point is what are you even talking about with “a niche audience doing daily quests”? (You might be saying with doing a quest day by day but this game isnt that.) Your Henry, son of the Skalitz blacksmith, your a badass in training off to avenge your parents. Atleast thats what I was sold And I got everything I hoped for except when I get shot 40 feet off a cliff bcus I got stuck in a bush (And my last save was ends up being 2 hours ago)

Also ‘putting fuel on the flames’ can be a good thing or a bad thing. Theres nothing you can do if the game doesnt work at launch but letting developers know we’re still interested is what I think most people are doing. (Usually)

But overall I agree, and the reason I made this response is I feel your not understanding what I made this post for. I love the game but releasing it like this and expecting criticism, shouldnt be suprising. Also the developers shouldnt care about the people they know obviously hoping from game to game.

Im getting boring as hell too but I think that just shows our passion in the fact we want this game to succeed and by its own merritt we shouldnt let it be mediocre.

PS I hope that second part is true about them speaking with actions rather than words. I definitely can say I believe that.

I’m insta crashing after being appointed talmberg master huntsman
OR because i won the talmberg race automatically since others didn’t show up

developers developers developers
how do i fix this shit?

You dont have to convince me of any ‘counter argument’; this isnt black and white and people who keep trying to pigeon hole it into some neat analogy that suits their methods of convincing me how much a fail this game is(n’t)…

Actually Jim I have no qualm with you and none of my ‘rant’ was in any way directed at you.

Jim-I say you feel unnecessarily guilty about your words that you might think my post was in any way directed at you (passively or otherwise). It wasnt. I applaud you words on most thread I see them.
A few who might think I am polarised against them (I am not) I find have great thoughts to share and eloquent methods across many thread…

Whilst I might seem an evangelist; my target is generally the ‘noise’ that comes ‘visit’.
Generally they create alt accounts and upvote their own angry posts from thread to thread.

Over the last two weeks- using logic and patience and trying to broaden their views (and acknowledge their sentiments),… a few of them have either stopped harrasing everybody or toned it down a bit (much more reasonable).

And thusly I havent needed to be a part of a range of ‘fanbois’ trying to keep some perspective.

(This isnt medical industry software or a car-a better analogy is akin to movie tickets, but hey- my perspective is games are entertainment)

When we try to put people in boxes to fit our view of them- they have a habit of escaping…

People are too dynamic and varied to apply such broad views over so many… it is our limitations in understanding (them) that limits their gamut.

If my views seem long winded it is due to crazy reductionalist arguments and insane methods of out of context quotes that the ‘evil’ ones use to establish their superiority (and evidently convince other thread readers who is telling the truth/words have worth)(people unlike you and I upvote themselves with alt accounts to justify their points of view to others).

What I know is that they seldom attack me (generally I prove too reasonable) and they can quickly change their points of view to being way more in perspective or reasonable…

Long winded arguments leave way less chance to misinterpretation, with the added benefit being that more moght inderstand what is being said (cultural and language differences get less in the way).

I might not always be eloquent, or succinct with my words- and might only get 1 in 10 of my dialogues in the right place/right time.

It doesnt bother me because these are forums, people come here to read, and generally I help more than I hurt and my intentions are in the right place (humanity be praised).
Thise who hang around might find my ‘polarising statements’ arent as extreme as first seem.
Consistency is key- and I like the communities to which I strive to be a part of. Whilst I am an unusual character- my life is testimony to my qualities.
Most benefit and are happier for having met me.
Your mileage may vary (YMMV)

Get ready this is a mouthful. I really think that, at this point in the game development world, when companies try to build a game like this that is at the same price point as games with considerably less content and much simpler dynamics, they deserve the support of there fan base in a post beta grace period. In the future you can chose to wait until after release before buying these types of games.

Every one has there own idea of what is playable. I find Destiny to be unplayable. I’m really enjoying KCD.

If your time between saves is 2 hours your doing something wrong. When people say 2h+ I find it very hard to believe… even over an hour like wtf are you doing. I dont even use snapps anymore and my saves are like every 20 minutes.

Not sure I understand this post…

Are you suggesting that we need to save more frequently…?

I save omce every few hours only cause the game forces it on rest…

(Also never had ANY save issues)-(I play as devs intended)

Whats not to understand? You said it yourself the game forces the rest. The only time i save manually is when i jump in a bed to sleep till morning or a quick 1 hour nap to mark my progress in the game other than that the game forces plently so im the one not understanding how your last save was 2hrs away? Maybe an over exaggeration? But in a game like this where you have a kind of perma death with no checkpoints isn’t it common sense to maybe… well save everynow and again. But either way the post wasnt directed to you so whats the problem

Problem is one of language or grammar.
I simply didnt understand what you wrote.
Not sure if it was missing some syntax- but the follow up has a tone of voice that implies what you are really saying.

Not sure I deserved to be chewed out. Enjoy your day
Edit: ye prolly not chewwing me out- rather trying to convince peeps to save more often so the they dont have complaints for losing hours of gametime.

Ive not lost hours of gametime- yes- when I die… but I have gamed since before cartridges had battery backups for save data.

Ghostbusters in sega master system had such a huge code to have to enter -pointlessly huge- and in a day before digital cameras… writing down one character incorrectly meant goodbye whole game progress…

I can handle an rpg that forces me to care for my player and not risk their life constantly. The best thing about not saving very often is the risk and the sense of caring about the character that it forces.
There was a time when this gameplay style was the norm.
I dont enjoy the lack of challenge that ‘save anywhere’ games offer. There is never an fear of consequence.

Why do people try and have to be smart on a public forum for christ sake. What is so hard to understand by my first comment? All i said is i find it hard to believe people are going 2h+ in this game without having a save… I’ve also been gaming since cartridges what does that have to do anything? Are you trying to imply you’re older and have more experience than others here who you know nothing about and seem to presume are children? I Dont understand what you getting at because you’re basically saying what has been my main argument from the start on the subject of the save system in this forum.

I just feel like you might lose some of the steam when you wind it. Also not feeling guilty but I did feel like you were saying if I wasnt enjoying the game it wasnt meant for me, even if you did say it was pointed at me. (btw I do enjoy the game until npcs stopmaking sounds (and I know a restart of the game might fix that sometimes but is that what Im expected to do every couple of hours?))

I may have been exagratting but I can defintley speak from experience where you go on a long winded hunt and find a bandit camp and after an adventure you return to complete a quest and it all crashes. Theres a couple ways to dispute saving all the time like how many saviour schnapps am I really supposed to have? And am I supposed to save and quit before I do any major quest? Or be slightly drunk doing it? Im ranting but I think you can see the flaws. Saving is a very tricky issue in a simulation and I hold nothing against devs, but it does end up in wasted time.

That was kind of the point of being able to save whenever you want you had to deal with being drunk which doesnt even last long and there is a drinking perk so it doesnt affect as much. That was the whole risk of - I’ve been hunting for awhile is it really worth taking on a bandit camp right now and risk losing my progress if i die? If your still early in the game its probably not the best idea to be taking on a camp anyway… wait till you have better gear/higher stats so you can confidently kill those bandits.

Losing progress when you personally mess up is something i adore about the game, but on the other hand losing progress from “crashing” or any other technical errors which had nothing to do with you messing something up is something that needs to be looked at asap if the devs are going to insist on a (relatively) harsh save system.

It’s really amazing that you can’t view this gave negatively in any faset. So many of them.

View the game negatively? I cant even riposte enemys anymore only block… I just find it funny when people over exaggerate on subjects then openly admit to it, calling the save system relatively harsh but people are just lazy. There are plenty of ways that the game saves… Quest start/checkpoints/finish, bed saves, bath saves, snapps. It seem there is an abundance of saving throughout the game. I play ps4 and there hasn’t been a crash since 1.3 came out

The drunk you get off Savior Schnapps is actually not enough to negatively effect you, unless maybe you’re already drunk or if you have the perk where alcohol hits you faster(not sure about those). When you’re just a little drunk your str/fighting skills and cha/speech increase slightly…the idea being to get a little liquid courage in your before the big battle or important conversation, which coincidentally is probably when you would want to catch a save…idk why people think it’s gets them so drunk it’ll adversely affect them. Your conspicuousness will increase but whatever; maybe just wait an hour to wear the effect off? I don’t get the fuss honestly

Stealth isn’t broken, but when combined with bugs it becomes an issue, like I was in a house and the AI would appear behind me and dissaper and reappear, 8/10 when I’m right behind an enemy they turn around just as I press the F key. (Or I’ll press the key then they will turn around) Also sometimes you can sneak in front of enemies only a few feet in front of them and they won’t see you, but they’ll instantly notice you if you’re at there side.

I always try to keep my vis/noise low, I wear black armour and take off shiny armour before I do stealth.

Anyway back to the point, the game is clearly unfinished as in terms of polish but the actual game I’d say is pretty solid so far.
