NPC behaviour and routine

exept the usual bugs of alpha, i found that the npc routine quite strange… they are changing their occupations every 5 min. to fit the timeline, people back in those days were spending all the daytime, from sunrise to sunset, working in the fields and sleeping all night long, due to hard work, exept praying and eating at lunchtime (somtimes direcly at the place they were working), they didn’t had time to do anything else. There are multiples inconsistency to this way of life in the game… not just the routine but things like the fact there are no beds, or childrens. at night NPC’s are having that… processions or something. i guess that is going to be corrected in the final verison (or even beta) but i was wondernig about this.

I agree. The NPC routines seem a bit rushed. You have to be lucky to catch the blacksmith at his forge. The archer is constantly eating or wandering away from the shooting range. And don’t even get me started about the sheppard…

Great, beautiful alpha with lots of places to explore and people to interact with. I just wanted to ditto @chemicaldruid comments.

Ive had people spend all day at there job mostly the farmers. The blacksmith is usually at his forge for me but the archery guy mostly just wanders about sometimes fixes a fence then does archery for about 5 minutes.

To say the truth the very idea of dedicated archery trainer in the village like Samopše is weird. Its of course a matter of alpha archery implementation. And to get enough money for earning his serving of stew and his tea he probably have to repair every fence in the village. You know, one has to be useful, the shiny helmet won`t buy you your meal.

The sheppard is always at the door of the sheep enclosure - at least when I want to find him I will find him there.

The blacksmith is simply a damnably lazy guy who spend most time on the way from his house to the forge or from the forge to his house. It`s fine, he at least ignore me jumping on his roof again and again.

not seeing the problem here. the blacksmith smiths, the farmers farm, the bowmaster sits at this range.

i’m not seeing this “change occupation every 5 minutes” you’re talking about, unless you count lunch, breakfest, dinner, mending your backyard, carrying fresh water to the basin, etc as “different occupations”

I agree with @213. There are some glitches that make NPCs get stuck at places, but generally everyone seems to do what he/she is supposed to do.

@MJJ: Well, the game time is sped up about 30 times compared to the real time, so there must be a lot of compression. But to me it makes the world more interesting and dynamic, so I am fine with that. We’ll have to see how this works out during gameplay.

of course it is not litterlly “every 5 min” but the activity switching is quite often.

because it’s more realistic for people to sit/stand in one spot the whole day. gotcha

because the area of alpha isn’t actually this big, it’s quite often that you have to see the same field… just sayin.
