After playing games like the elder scrolls series, i always noticed that when i begin a conversation with an NPC it puts your in the weird box that zooms in on the person you are talking to, with the dialogue options lined up in boxes and the strange camera angles while they are talking. So, i’m wondering if anyone else has ever been bothered by this? i always find it ruins a bit of the immersion by putting you in those weird boxes while the camera shows views from behind you, perhaps it would be better to have the camera not zoom in on the person you are talking to, but just turn the screen to face them. Let me know what you guys think.
As of now, they’re going for different camera angles in a 3rd person mode. The difference between TES and KCD in terms of dialogues is, that the player’s character is actually talking all the time in a dialogue, even after you’ve chosen a dialogue option. That means you want to see the action, the face, the emotion. I don’t want to see head movements in first person all the time or a constant staring if Henry is angry or desperate.
That’s a good point, but i personally never notice or cared when your character reacted negatively or positively in skyrim, no facial expressions or head movements were necessary for me. When something happened to my character in skyrim i usually felt the same way, thus not requiring my character to react. (I guess it’s all down to personal preference)
i think that’s because it’s generally at a very basic level. when people are moving and behaving at a “performance capture” level, as was reached in one of the stretch goals, you will see performances such as this at 7:20 mark. an excerpt of a speech from a jan hus film. the sound is from the film i think, they just play it over the actor’s mouth performance:
