After watching this part of a KCD gameplay video https://youtu.be/-h9kt8VICaE?t=23m51s, I’ve got an idea of different NPCs employing different tactics to get their primary target robbed or killed.
So, imagine the guy in the video, instead of chasing after the player mindlessly, begins to shout for help after spotting Henry. The liar claims his brother got attacked in the forest and is injured. Henry’s got a horse, so it’s perfect - they can get his brother fast to the village for medical help. The liar claims he’ll pay you anything for this “life or death” deed.
A ‘New quest’ mark appears for you, you must choose. The liar wants you to follow him to the forest, carry his brother to the horse (left on side of the road alone) and get to closest village AFAP. Of course, instead, the NPC tries to get a moment and attack you from behind or steal your belongings / horse.
This’d make the world even more believable because let’s face it - if you were some no-name guy in the middle ages, trying to make ends meet, singing for the most odd banditry jobs for the sake of your family’s well-being, you’d try to lie your way to the top. You’d become a shameless human being to achieve the goal.
I’d love to see a similar mechanic introduced because it’s immersive and intense. It makes you paranoid for a reason. Thoughts?
