I am about to give up, I have played all the way to the last battle with only killing runt and my troops always lose the final battle. just capon and Bernard outnumbered by a dozen enemies. I have come a long way for the merciful trophy and this is a deal breaker for me. if no one at warhorse cares to explain this then I’m out. no more purchases for dlc, sequels, anything by warhorse studios or anything associated with them.
Totally the same problem…i end up being alone with capon and bernad against dozens of enemies …and ultimately being killed in the end…in one try,i had a chance of winning that…but suddently my shield gets stuck up and couldnt see anything and they killed me!!!
Try punching them and knocking them out. That way there are less people attacking your soldiers and when they wake up they don’t pick a weapon up and continue to fight with fists
I finally got lucky and made it past this sequence. The game actually crashed twice and would not let me finish. And I think I tried a total of 9 times. My best advice would be the same as Joshua’s at the end of war games. The only way to win is not to play. I managed to get the platinum trophy, but I won’t be getting any DLC or sequels.

He means after you knock them out. Don’t pay attention to that. As best as I can see, you just need to interfere as much as possible so the troops win eventually. Like I said it took me almost 9 times. And the first two times we won the battle, the game crashed afterwards. The only way this is worth it is if you really want the platinum trophy. I did it only because I started a community of players and felt as if I wanted to be the one in the community to have accomplished it.
I’ve tried it like 20 times and most of the time end up being me and captain bernard on the walls…surrounded by 7-8 soldiers that refuse to die.
Typically I got him to fight 5 enemies, and if I kept pushing a few away, then he could eventually take them down. Don’t forget down below also, Capron is in the same situation. Like I says, unless you really want a platinum trophy for some reason, this is another one of warhorse studios pathetic game play issues.
Finally after the latest update i finished!!!
In my first game runthrough I used the bow and we won all battles on the first run in a too short time, I was a litte bit disappointed. First I killed every enemy archer I could spot. Then I supported allied soldiers who were in urgent danger or when in 1:1 fights. In the end they always outnumbered the enemies.
Okay, try doing it without killing anyone.
