Other medieval, realistic setting games?

Mount and Blade: Warband is pretty good. The mod community is thriving with this game. Through the ‘native’ game doesn’t have any thing to do with our medieval history it still is a great game I’ve spent many hours on!

Also the stick! But as for the topic I cant think of none, though WotR reflects well how difficult it is to survive in a melee, I think. And its fun, very important this.

I don’t think so, when you are dueling is all ok. But when you are in a BG it’s unbalanced as hell, if you can parry/dodge/block at two person or more with this mechanics I have to congratulate you for your skills, and i’m not talking about facing newbie players. And if you tell me that is not just spam, you haven’t played the 0.9.x patch…

I’m sorry i used to love that game but now is not balanced. It’s not logical for that type of game that swinging without charging the attacks (spam-fest) is much better than charging them.

(My english is bad, if you don’t understand something, please let me know xD)

If you think it’s that bad and there really are no strategies to counter a clusterfuck of spammers with e.g Archers, Crossbows and Gun Powder Weapons. Or possibly lure them into small corridors where spamming is hard. Then I think you should write to the developer and tell them what there is wrong about the weapons and what they’ve done. And true I actually haven’t played for a very long time because the police confiscated my gaming computer.

Also if the enemy is grouping up it usually a bad idea to try to fight them unless you’re some kind of Master at this game.

I actually had a lot of luck with archer builds with the Castillion sword. You can evade virtually every attack and move in to thrust.

I got good at aiming and now I frequently do 70 damage thrusts against heavy armor.

Mount & Blade with the Anno Domini 1257 is a pretty good medieval simulator. Going to playing some while waiting for KC:D

Nobody mentioned Age of Empires? :-o

Well Age of Empires is very gamey. Not to say that games like Stronghold aren’t, they’re just better at concealing it. Wololo

Well everyone knows age of empires, so what is the point in telling? Well there might be the odd chance that he doesn’t know about it.

SLUBBERDEGULLEON

and whatever else they said

Nobody mentioned Knights of Honor?

KNIGHTS OF HONOR

Unfortunately, Black Sea Studios was bought by Crytek but I still hope there will be a Knights of Honor 2 at some time. With 3D gfx and so on.

War of the vikings has a new verion out, and I like it a lot more than WotR.

Not bad too … What bothers me personally about all of these combat simulations is the lack of depth of a game. Beautifully designed worlds are for the purpose, each other to knock on the cap. So far it has since settlers / Anno / AoE still managed not a game, building / commercial / fight
to bring social competence among a graphically demanding and monster-free hat.
