Paid for Early Access but the final release?

Hi,

I paid today (12/30/2015) to fund this great project and to try the game. Actually the Alpha version of this game is only available on Steam.

I know that the final version will be available on Steam and GoG si i have this question :

  • As i paid to fund this project, i will have only the game on Steam or i will have the possibility to have the game on GoG too (without to buy it) when the final release will be here ?

Thanks,
And sorry for my English, i’m French.

Odelpasso

I´m not sure if there are more information at the moment.
@DrFusselpulli do you know more, about release the game on GOG or without DRM/Steam?

It would surprise me if our early access will not simply be converted to the real game… that is how it is usually done.

Well it stands clearly about it on the ‘‘found’’ site.

‘‘With the Baron (digital) reward tier you are going to receive a digital copy of Act I, Baron forum badge, a digital manual, the soundtrack and making-of video, Beta access and Alpha access.’’

No, we don´t know right now about the final distribution of the game.

My own opinion about GOG
It is some special thing… but if KCD is on GOG,
many ppl in the great www will not pay for it.
And all other arguments are hypocrisy,
because search for other GOG titles and you will see
how many bad forums there are,
who are filled with ton of non-legal uploads.
P.S. i’ve talked in the past about it…
and i can tell everyone, the actual KCD alpha is playable for everyone in the www.

I hate to say that but Denuvo, the ass-copy-protection number one,
is the best choice to get best results. His method is a little bit fascinating.

I fail to understand your point. Games that are not on GOG get cracked too. The only difference when WH releases the game on GOG is that the scum that does not pay for their games will have it a few days earlier.
You can torrent every game. Every single one of them. (source: https://kat.cr)
Games protected by Denuvo are no exception, sorry  (Source: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-12-19-denuvo-anti-tamper-drm)

Yeah i agree to the point that every non GOG title got cracked too…
but i can’t see the differences between these “special” DRM free versions…
most time, arguments for GOG titles are a opinion of
"copy protections reduced performance" or
"how many times you can activate the title".
(and the 2nd one is in most times the only real argument for me!)
I find GOG has bypassed its own strategy.
Initially or first, it was for old games (Ultima etc).
Now, everyone want each title on GOG. (Maybe a result of CDP’s strategy)
I think a lot people don’t understand the basic idea behind GOG
and don’t know who are the “behind the scenes” founders of that etc.
(But as i said, they betrayed themselves.)

My vision to it…
Publish that version and they will never get the true glory for it.
In my opinion, it will make it easier for pirates.
And as i said… search for Alpha 0.5+fix and you are able to play it.
(not the real google tag but it can give ppl hints about it)

I think that many people don’t understand the scene release Scene…
if nobody of teams, like Razor1911, FLT, CPY, Chris
or I Am Awesome is interested in this game,
ppl in the internet will not get it!
Example: H.A.W.X. 2 (still a UbisoftGameLauncher title),
Dying Light Developer Tools, Raven’s Cry Tools…
Slender The Arrival 1.2 isn’t “fixed” by scene (as gcw & rls will call it)

EDIT: And a .torrent has nothing to do with a bypassed or cracked executable.
(e.g. Batman AK, Fifa, JC3)
It took 5/6 years to crack Knights of the Temple II…
And point to all that is money you’ve fund/backed!?
Or do you want give a pirate in the www 50€/$ for nothing!?

Well, I would leave it to developers and their strategy. This game would get cracked anyway, thats for certain (when you can pirate even alpha, full release will go too).
And if it gets cracked anyway, its now upto developers - do they want to slightly annoy pirates and highly annoy paying customers because of some barely working DRM? Or do they want to give the best possible experience to everyone, even if it costs them few dollars in the short run?

I will put it this way: I have never ever pirated CDProject Red games. I would never pirate Larian studios games. But after Mass Effect 3 and Assasins Creed Unity, there is no way in hell I would ever buy EA or Ubisoft games… I probably won´t even ever play them again, but even if I do, they can´t expect paying customer in me.

if I repeat myself, I’m sorry…
It is a big theme with many other important things.

I like free DRM starting games and i want the best possible experience for everyone
but not on GOG, a platform for older games.
The Witcher was published on it because GOG is a part of CDP.

And it was only published on GOG due of the time where it was released.
In 2007, copy protections reduced the performance… this was proven
and the reason for CDP to cooperate more with GOG was due to the cry of the community. Most time from Bioware fans because the witcher 1 was developed in cooperation with them.
And i guess it was only published on it to prevent a newcomer
from the same and actual situations where EA and Ubisoft now stands.
But as i said, we aren’t anymore in times where protections reduce performance.
(This was proven too)
And we are not talking about a developer whose executives are often on drugs. (Money)
As ppl can read it in the posted article of corvo_attano.
It is more a question about the sale weeks.
Personally, i’m not happy with the weak protection system Steam.
What is it with appid patcher for library and emulators for mp/lan servers, like ssl.
Alpha is now playable for everyone and yes i agree, the full version will be fucked up too.
(Or maybe not, because the existing executable or dynamic link library’s
from v0.1 build2879 v3.6.6.2879 are the same as for v0.5 patch v7.52650.685)
But that’s not all a reason for me to make it easier for others.

Idk what’s the problems with ME3…
It isn’t the same strategy or follow the concept like ASCR:U or FarCry.
Bioware is telling a Story about Shepard and not like AssCry
where the focus is on world and his interactions.
(In Assassin’s Creed, after the second part.
Which was the reason for most fans to hate the concept due of new protagonists)
In ME are the chracters and his stories the most important content.
This is one reason why Witcher 2 and 3 feels not like Witcher 1.
Which is for me, after the open world concept of all three, the best title.
And here too, a concept justified not the copy protection to a free version.
We live in an age of materialism and actually of rethinking.
What you can’t tell from people who will buy,
for example, the next apocalypse: Far Cry Primal.
And I bet it will the same theme/situation as in all other games:
Enough stupid people who will buy it.
But after all, they will spit on Ubisoft… until the next title is displayed.
The Division: I’m already laughing to death.

Bad thing on all this, titles like The Division will got best copy protections
and games like The Long Dark will never receive his true glory.
Because they have not been indoctrinated by this game lobby.
And I bet that all these things are responsible why some employees of WH
have left idiots like Ubisoft and EA.
This will certainly not be so well known to all.
But the industry is in these days full of these idiocy.
Most of it is sold by businessmen, which usually have no idea of playing games or what people really want.

I think it was to much and to far from topic…
sometimes my own opinion sounds like conspiracy theories!

Well the thing with Witcher 3 on GoG is really really simple… GoG was created by CD Project itself, publisher of Witcher 3, so they just used it to publish Witcher aswell

My issue with Mass Effect 3 is quite simple… Important story bits ripped from base of game as day 1 DLC and rushed release, causing massive letdown at the end of amazing saga. Typical moneymilking which absolutely ruined my second most favorite franchise ever…

Yes that’s right about ME Series but about others too!
I don’t like the DLC’s strategy too

Sorry, but what you actually do is not any better than normal pirates(if i understood you correct). You say, because of your dissapointment about these Games, it justifies you to pirate/steal an Game? Sorry, no! It’s one thing to decide for your own to not buy any Game from an Company again so boycott a series. Thats right, and i understand that, BUT it still doesn’t give you the right to illegally download and play an Game. Simply as that. If you want something to play, pay for it. If not, then let it.

Sorry edited - because it was a bit to offensive, but i still find your Attitude wrong. Videogames are still a product, where people actually work on it. If you get 30-50 Hours out of an Game, even if its not as amazing as the Titles before, it deserves it money because you stell get 30-50 Hours out of the Game. Its not upon to you, say what Game deserves Money if you want to play the Game and which not. Because your hatred about ME3 isn’t even a fact, but only your opinion and taste. What should i say about Witcher? I actually love this Game series, but compared to Witcher 1, witcher 2 have gotten worse. It still had a amazing Story, but unlike Witcher 1, which had unique and amazing Combat, they dumped down the Combat System to an generic 08/15 Action-Combat Syste. So in your logic, it would be deserved to NOT pay for Witcher 3 again and pirate the Game?! Sorry, no. If you want to see something from the Game, a lot of Let’s play and Gameplay is out there. Nowdays its much easier to get Information about an Game as ever. You can still decide if you want to play the Game or not. But if you want to play an new Game from a Company which let you down in the Past, you still have to pay for it, like any other Customer. And not such an half-hearted attitude: “If this Game is good, it deserves money, so buy it! And if not then pirate it”… Sorry but for me, at least at this point, people(general speaking) are a bit hypocrite…

As you can see, I wrote “no way in hell I would ever buy EA or Ubisoft games”. I didn´t really mean that I would pirate them, I just don´t trust them, don´t like their new games, don´t buy their new games and don´t play their new games.
My second remark was about my already bought games - that I will not probably play them again, and I definitely won´t buy any new of these series, and won´t buy any new DLC. Unless they are like CRAZY GOOD (and to be honest - they wont be). I can imagine my post was quite confusing and unclear tho…

What a big wall of text for nothing oO

A little bit Off-Topic but here is the next doctrine of Ubisoft and who reported XD Kotaku… lauhging out loud…

No new ASCR title in 2016 and what is that…

planned release: 12 January 2016
But no ASCR in 2016. XD XD
hypocrites

You don’t know the difference between AAA games and “small” games ?

When Kotaku and others websites said that there isn’t Assassin’s Creed games on 2016, it was about AAA games for the franchise not “small” games like Chronicles India and Russia.

And we know since 3 months that the both last game for AC Chronicles are planned for 2016.

My Opinion about GOG is following: That is the better Solution over Steam,

cause either gameservice they will choose, the game will be uploaded with cracks,

The Devs get more of the money over steam,

and tbh the policis of steam and the f… permanent internet-connection are annoying me, id go with GOG over Steam anydays!
Esp since i have a CD Version im always on the theoretical position to resell, with steam that wont work…so in my eyes there are so many more aspects of GOG that are superior to Steam i can’t even count them!

Steam doesn´t require online connection does it? I previously had no problem with playing offline, and don´t know if anything changed

I can confirm that.
