I also started a new game with this patch

And I also have not experienced any problems so far.

Why do you all start new games?

@Flarius - Dominoe effect of changes to the code versus memory cache of your save game which was created by older code can itself cause minor issues. Save games carry over the results of complex interactions of game code. So logically to have the best trouble free experience you should start a new game if the game code gets updated.

Game companies do their best to try and not cause issues from continuing old game saves with new code … But they are not always successful. Not even AAA companies can guarantee ongoing save compatability. I would rather eradicate the possibility of such issues by starting again completely with the new code.

Its also a good idea to not have any old mods installed with newer game code, until the mod has been specifically checked and updated to be 100% compatible with the new code … Otherwise old mods can also cause ongoing issues (they do after all include modified files from the old game setup, if they do not use updated files from the new patches as a basis for the mod update, then the mod is replacing newer coded files with older buggy versions and re-introducing problems the game should now be free of).

Basicly anything that has been influenced in its composition by older code (save games, config files and mods files) should be eradicated to be 100% sure you are flushing out old issues.

Eventually the game will be as bug free as the company can get it to be, and you will not have to do any further restarts - Its just the nature of the beast which are computer games these days, they are so big and so complex nobody can expect to have a completely bug free game anymore, and at least a few patches are to be expected. When it comes to a relatively new game company without legions of employees on a film production scale game type, you can expect a few more. During that period you can also expect to restart a few times. Sux but cant be helped. To get such a game to near perfect before release, the game company would go bust just trying to get to that stage, and all employees would leave to support their own families in a more sensible and reliable career.

I’m continuing with a 1.3.4 save, and I’ve been very happy so far.

With HD textures, and settings ranging from V. High to Ultra, I’ve been getting faster load times, smoother performance, and more stable FPS than I did pre-1.4.2. Camera movement and combat feel snappier, as well.

I had two textures that took 5 minutes to load in as the new textures re-cached, but after the initial shakedown everything has been great.

I’m also continuing from a 1.3.4 savegame. Actually I’m not completely sure whether HD textures are really active or not. They sure downloaded (9,5GB with HD audio).
Is there any specific texture to clearly tell the diffence?

Besides Loading times seem shorter and much less popus occur. Maybe I will try to raise the level of detail later this day…

Because the game is good but has no endgame content at all.

Game is still stable when continuing from a 1.3.4 save.

that would be nice!

it stucks here:

At the beginning, where horse riding is explained.
