Hello,
I have received the physical copy with the four DVD and at my surprise the install of the game is terribly slow, so slow that I decided to cancel and download it instead, and the difference in speed is major.

Any reason that this is taking so long with the DVD?

well, at least you can install it from cd, can u explain me how u did it ? when i start the cd i automatically start downloading the game instead of installing it

I simply executed the autostart on the first DVD, copy pasted the code on my account and it started the install in Steam
Maybe you are confused by the fact that steam behave like it is downloading it but it is in fact doing the install with the DVD as source
On the right in steam download when you start the install, do you see “unpacking” or “Downloading” ?

That is strange, If I where in your situation I would try to cancel the install (download) in Steam, exit Steam (not minimize) and start again the DVD install
Beside that taking screenshots of each steps may also help to troubleshoot
