Pickpocketing has a lot of traits that do stuff like let you see an item’s stats, before you decide to grab it. Or reveals several items before you start, so you can choose which one to get.
I see no purpose for those traits, the way pick-pocketing works in the game.
I can scarcely get 5 seconds in the groping phase, before I’m noticed. Even if the person is ASLEEP, I rarely get more than 4 seconds. Frequently, they notice me pick-pocketing them 2 seconds in, before it is practical or even possible to get past the groping phase.
So, either I’m doing something very wrong, or the pick-pocketing is not working as intended at all. As I do NOT have time to measure an item’s stats and decide which of several items to pick, or even to consider one item’s stats. I grab the one that’s closest to the exit. And only one, as you don’t get extra XP for grabbing more than one item.
I suggest making the groping phase less ranodom. As, at present, it feels like a dice-roll.
