Pickpocketing is annoying

I have level 17 Pickpocketing, level 20 stealth, my clothes make zero noise, and my visability 24 and conspicuious at 25. And I still instant fail at pickpocketing a sleeping person! I’m damn neaer a master, I should be almost able to pickpocket a king at this level. And I’m still being instantly caught by some nameless peasent who is asleep!

This skill is so damn annoying. It’s a good think that I made 500+ save potions just so I wouldn’t completely destroy my characters reputation and mad the game almost impossible to play in some towns.

It’s hard, I certainly agree. Most times, if I successfully pickpocket, I can’t even see what I stole. It just says onscreen, “Pickpocketing was successful.”

The problem is that pickpocketing in KCD feels like a mini-game. The idea is great, but it does not fit into the main game. It feels generic, a fun-challenge just to add some extra skill content. The consequence is that this is not organic game design. I prefer how it was in the early alpha trailer where you cut someone’s bag with a knife and steal it. Without any screen menus, HUD or interactive quick-time-events.

As I said it is great and complex as a challenge, but it feels not immersive and I would say it even destroys the immersion. A simple and decent pickpocketing system would be better.

When you pickpocket you choose a slot in the pocket to reveal what is in there and then move out at the top.

If you only look and don’t reveal a specific item, then you are not stealing, but only going in and out. And that can easily become “Pickpocket successful” with no item arriving in your own pocket.

Oh, okay. Thanks. :sunny:

Geess you keep targeting a light sleeper. No mater how god of a pickpocket you may be you will be caught even by the dumbest peasant, face it is realistic.

same as the dice game, it is a add-on. If it annoys you don’t do it, it it doesn’t bother you just enjoy the game.

At first I didn‘t really want to specialize in pp/lp but then i read in this subreddit that you miss a good amount of quests if you don‘t do it, so I decided to give it a try. Now I‘m in Rattay and I don‘t do much else then stealing all night long. It is so damn rewarding, I got a couple thousands groschen by lvl 3 or 4. What I do is basicly steal keys from people and open their chests and doors with it. last night I made ~ 10 runs between the mill and Rattay selling and storing stuff. Right now my chest is full of armor, and weapons wich I can‘t use yet. I can buy as many lockpicks and SaviorSchnapps as I want, money doesn‘t really feel rare any more.

I‘m considerig a complete new start without stealing because it feels too easy.

I love this game and I‘m having a blast but it …annoys me that it is so easy to come by all the good stuff so early on (not to speak of this gold chest with endgame equip posted in another thread).

What‘s your feeling about it? Please share you opinion!

I’m only been working on Pickpocketing for the quests. Honestly you might as well just throw away all of those armors and weapons. Once you get your lockpicking up to level 17 - 18, you can just break into the merchent chests and still thousands. hell i already have 100K groecshen just from doing that. The economy on this game is broken. Not to mention if you go and grab the warhorse armor set from the ancent treasure maps, or Youtube. All other armors and weapons then become pointless as it is one of the best sets in the game.

I beg to differ. the Magdeburg set is better at 25 chest and 23 arms and legs. the only thing worth while past player level 5 is the helm at 25 armor if you want an enclosed helm.

I no longer pick pocket sleeping people, I either knock them out and then loot them, or wait until they’re awake and pick pocket them then when they never seem to notice.

The economy is not broken, you are just manipulating the game. Everything in the game is there to enhance the gameplay. If you only want amass wealth why bother with the game at all?

Because just like in real life, money makes almossst everything much easier.

Actually money makes things more difficult. One works harder to keep the money one has. The government thinks of new ways to tax you for your money and thieves want take your money. Life is much simpler when you don’t worry about money.

ya like concerns about starving, housing, disease, injuries the debilitate. Ya , ask the ones living at homeless camps.

There is work available once you start the DLC.

your pervious statement implies IRL, you did not set it in reference to the game tho my post would apply in game.

BTW next time I play the game and not if vanilla I will skip doing the DLC. It is too much of a headache for me since I always play with mods and mods keeps the DLC from working properly and turning mods on and of is a real bother ( stopping game then restarting). just to do something in the DLC area.
Which is way outta the way and not easy to get to and with mod problems not even worth going to.
