Pickpocketing

I’m horrible at it, I think it’s literally the first mechanic in any game I’ve encountered that I simply can’t do.
Plenty of ways to get around it (just knocking people out and looting them for example), but still a major personal issue for me.

I’m not sure whether I’m happy there’s finally a game that challenges me or I’m disappointed because there’s something I can’t do.

Done the pickpocket training with the Miller? If so, he advises you to try it on sleeping people and drunks. So there you go, follow the advice of a professional.

Yeah, I know, but still not for me.

Keep trying. You need to be fast enough. Sooner or later you’ll get the hang of it.

This sounds like good advice for everything in the game!

When pick pocketing in the beginning, do not even take a second to look at what you are Astealing. You will need 7 seconds for things at the bottom of the wheel. Once you acesss the stealing wheel, click on an icon, click it again(doesnt matter what you are stealing) then quickly highlight the “exit door” click and get out of the pocket as fast as possible.

Lot of randomness with this skill. So i only steal in an area i don’t care about or bandits. I assume it will be more viable with higher skill, but right now its not worth the reputation hits

Stealing should never be worth the reputation hits unless you are a master pickpocket.

Don’t talk about “hang”-ish stuffs to a thief… LOL

The key is to start with sleeping people, and be sure that your clothing has a low noise rating.

When you first start out you will be trying the same person over and over just to get one item because the window usually closes after 3 seconds.

So far pick pocketing has been the hardest yet most rewarding skill to master for me.
