Placebo Effect: drugs, talisman and other things

What do you think about?
I’m not only refering to false drug but also bring “useless object” with high emotional feature like smithe with Henry’s father’s hammer or weareing a ring given by a noble as a sign of gratitude or wearing something blessed… shuld they give some little bonus/malus to reflect the emotional state of Henry?

placebo effects aren’t strong enough to be simulated in gameplay terms. though in narrative, possible. ie, someone won’t go somewhere unless henry has “permission” in the form of a blessing or sacred object.

@213 I don’t know if is not strong enough… I’ve read a study on it done by mont blanc physiology centre; they asked some people to do a route with oxigen tank in wich they put different oxigen % to simulate diffent altitude and they lied to the subject about the oxigen partial pressure; the result was quite surprising because when they say “you breathe air as you are altitude 0” the performance was far superior even if they are breathing air with pressure as 4350mt (lab altitude) and when they said “you are breathing low pressure oxigen” the performance drop even if the thank had altitude 0 pressure

Yes, it’s quite interesting how our psyche fools itself. Same with different treatments today, you can get better by giving placebo drugs just because you think you are getting treated.

You forgot the heroic doses of psychedelic mushrooms involved :wink:

It would add a bit depth to the story if henrys hammer is from his father for example
things would become more valuable for henry and the player when theres a story behind them.
I think its a good Idea
not really necessary but it would be nice if implemented
