Played to much... noticing nettles when I usually would not think about them

This weekend I participated in a local larp… and I could not stop noticing the nettles outside the “inn”, and in a few other locations… something I newer thought about before…

Guess an reaction to playing true the 0.3 alpha on Thursday.

Thats Awesome!

I loved this effect when I played oblivion I could identify more things then I could before, the issue was looking for the ones that weren’t real or misnamed.

This game will have so many educational uses.

I have nightmares about having carts loaded with nettles in a world devoid of thistle.

I was at my in-laws sitting on the back porch and I saw some nettle near the edge of their garden. I walked over to it and saw some thistle as well! My first instinct was to grab the thistle and put it in my pocket. Haha!

I’m also excited to learn more about plants through this game. I researched the “euphrasia eye-bright” plant found in the alchemy book, and it really was used for eye problems a long time ago! You can still use it as alternative medicine today! I thought that was really cool!

I got stinged alot by nettles on Sunday, that’s what you get for exploring abandoned places of past human settlement. They just love to grow where cattle was once bred (they need a lot of nitrogen I assume). Interestingly enough even after centuries you can tell that there was a human activity in the area when you see unusual amount of nettles.

Also based on the burning sensations all over my legs and hands I think Henry should lose one health point every time he picks up a nettle without wearing gloves.

haha same here, palyed it last week and now they are everywhere

Well, can you die from being stung by nettle? I do not belive so unless you are bathed in it for long time, then I think there could be some real damage.
But some interaction could interesting.

I don’t don’t think that you can die from it. I know it can get VERY painful for dogs with short fur, so I wouldn’t advise bathing in it (rarely dogs can even die from it).
Picking them up with bare hands is definitely not pleasant but if you pick a bunch it will leave only a temporary numb feeling and red rash on your skin. Henry is probably tougher being a blacksmith’s son and all that, so maybe an audible “ouch” would suffice as an “picking up nettle” effect?

That was the direction I was going.

now i’m just imagining Henry winning a really close battle, walking off victoriously, and then picking up a nettle and keeling over.

Nettles aren’t that bad once you get used to them or if you know how to treat them!

It would be really neat to see Henry respond to them especially if he were charge head on into a large patch of them.

Nettles are fun. Especially if you fall into them from a bike. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah with his blacksmith hands he would probably laugh at us for saying nettles hurt.

Yes nettles are really everywhere, but yesterday I saw a grass field (which hasn´t been cut). In the field were also hundreds of thistles. But the thistles grew much higher than the grass.
A look into Wikipedia: They grow up to 2 meters!
In KCD it would be easy to find them, because they are so high.
@Warhorse should change this… :smiley:

I have never heard that someone died from a nettle sting. But there is another very interesting flower they could implement in the game forcing players to keep more attention while running through the fields. The Heracleum sphondylium (hogweed or eltrot)
