Poison and thief things!

Hello,

I was wondering if (realistic) medieval poisons, toxins, etc, are used and how so? The viability of either rapid short-term ones (for stealth kill assists), or ‘slow’ ones (like maybe put it in/on their inventory and they get sick, woozy, etc)? I believe there was a gameplay mention of ‘poisoning a water supply’, for example.

Any other mentions of thief-related gameplay would be appreciated, especially if you can point out the update/blog/video/etc source. As it is unlikely to based in either the ‘super tool’ assistance of the Thief series or the simple Elder Scrolls version, it will be neat how ‘realism’ plays out…

first off im no expert. however if u look into any herb u will see that the difference between it being used as a medicine VS a poison is the dosage. that means u CAN over dose on “health” potions. which would most likely only numb the body and slow your reflexes, like a painkiller. as for poisoning someone buy putting a vile on there person would not effect them realistically unless u plan on having it leach through the skin which most herbs don’t do even mixed with water. if they have a gourd or something and u put the vile in there then that would be more realistic. just though i would coin in and help the conversation.

Crafting poisons such as hemlock, and lacing food with it would be very cool. Also the thief aspect of the game interests me. Maybe you could play as a Robin Hood character and steal from the rich and give to the poor. Or maybe just keep it for yourself…

It’s about time someone made a thread relevant to the thief style!

If we’re lucky, then I’m sure they’ll do something more than just applying specific poisons to weapons. There could be smoke bombs, noxious gas, maybe traps made from specific items like rope, and some other stuff.

…Or, they might just play the new thief reboot coming out and just “Borrow” every thing and mechanic from that game. lol

why would they do that? the new thief game looks dumbed down and isn’t realistic at all.

well as for the thieving if u really want it to be realistic then there’s not really any good way to make a tumbler lock seeing as how they weren’t invented till the 18 somethings. to my knowledge the type of locks used prier to that where like a pad lock that had a screw in it. the head of this screw would have an unusual shape to try to make it harder for people to open. whether or not this really helped is a mystery to me as u just need a “pick” with 2 metal sheets that get wider the closer to the handle u get. or you could use mud to get an imprint of what the key needs to look like and choose the best “pick” that way. =P

i would also wonder about an antidote for poisons if there will be difrent antidotes as after all each poison is difrent.
