I´d suggest to add the option : It´s fine
But hell yeah is okay too 
I personally liked the little darker (well, it was more like yellowish-ish) “dirtier” background better than the current one. I also liked the “post bar” design better, but it is nice to be able to manually jump to a specific post. But that are just personal taste 
Others things I’ve seen so far look good. I really like that there are more threads shown and… is it loading faster?

Yeah, it should be more faster than before. We updated from almost one year old version of Discourse to latest version. It is more optimized and of course I add one more worker
It’s better in terms of speed as far as I can tell, but I agree with @senseless that the darker colors were better.
edit: When I look at it more, I also must add that I liked a nicknmae on the left and a badge under it A LOT more. Now it looks just weird.
edit 2: Also I don’t like much those rewards. Is it possible to switch it off? Can’t find it anywhere. I’d rather get notifications only when someone PM me or reply to me, and not because I gave someone a like…
edit 3: Back to the name and title placement. Look at @TobiTobsen, he has it totaly messed up. I would really preffer to get it back to the left. IMO it also doesn’t differentiate enough between a name and a title, it’s like if they were both of the same importance for identification…

Honestly, I liked the old forum definitely more in terms of general appearance, and I had no issue with speed whatsoever.
But it gets the job done, so it’s fine for me.
…although, the smileys look horrendous.
I mean…
The update made it a bit better, at least less wasted space on the main view.
But all in all I’m still not really a fan of this forum software.
Still too much wasted space - posts barely half screen width-, colors all over the place - reminds me of of powerpoint presentations where the creator wanted to use the whole color spectrum for his fonts - and the dynamic loading makes scrolling unintuitive.
Nothing that one can’t live with, but you asked. 
It is too goddamn bright. I don’t mean only the general background, but also other “functional” colors, such as the No. of threads, background blue behind avatars, etc. I don’t care for the badges, but I understand that the children will like them, so that’s OK with me.
Good to hear that its supposed to be faster now.
I switch the badges off until we decided if we use them or not.
About the name on the left. I don’t know if it is possible in this new version. We will do some polishing of the graphics, but I guess this change will be permanent.
What I like:
More compact main screen.
I also enjoy that the posts seem to have maximum width it allows me to read faster and forums with wide text areas tend to be sometimes slightly difficult to parse.
The mobile version looks really clean and is easily readable. I would prefer it being slightly darker (not white) but otherwise it looks really good.
What could be improved:
As mentioned previously, the colours don’t fit quite well. The light blue and light beige just don’t mix well IMHO.
Username and badge is getting lost between the comment text. This may be just matter of habit and after I get used to it it will be easier again to spot the usernames.

One less important thing: the old smileys were better imo.

I have another suggestion, not neccesarily related to the new forum, because I think it was like that in the old one as well. Is there any particular reason why posts in german are visible in general english forum (when sorting from the latest for example)? Tbh, I find it little bit annoying. I have nothing against german backers! It’s just that posts in any other language (rightly) are visible only in their dedicated category, not in the general english forum. I think the general forum should be in english only. And even if it’s not a big problem now, it might get worse later when more people will be active…
