Is there anyway the developers could run a poll so they would know what we would like to see in addition to what they are going to do. For instance have 10 or 20 items listed and let us vote for each one. So the first one we vote for would count as 10 or 20 depending on how many items are on the list and then on down to one. So therefor for each person voting you would have their list of items 20 on down to 1. This way developers would know where to add more attention to what people are interested in. Anyway I think it’s a good idea.
I think they know rather well what they want the game to be. They had a pretty far evolved concept when they started the campaign and asked us to support their vision, not to tell them what to do. Some Kickstarter campaigns are more inclusive than others. I’ve backed some 40 projects and they usually ask you specifically when they need some input. Otherwise you should put some trust into them - they have experience, they’ve studied software engineering and game-design, they are acclaimed for good writing (never played Mafia, but I’ve heard the story was exceptionally good).
Of course it’s never wrong to discuss among ourselves, they’ll probably take some inspiration from the issues we bring up, but don’t ask them to give up too much control. Imagine you’ve got a vision of a game, you go present it to the public and ask for money and then people want more and more changed, like you didn’t tell them what the game will be like (they’ve told us a lot if you watch all the video updates), it’s not so different from a publisher.
The people voted with their money for the vision Warhorse presented to them in the kickstarter campaign (stretch goals included). So, the devs already know want we want. It was a unambiguous signal. The pledgers want for Warhorse to stay true to their vision. It’s the highest priority. No poll can be more relevant.
Of course, users can share their ideas and others give their opinion about these suggestions. No poll needed.
Also, what the devs finally do with it is out of our hands, we can only trust in their experienced judgement.
btw: I don’t claim to speak for every pledger, but I think it’s save to say that the serious and informed amongst us don’t want a watered-down version with management and simulation features (see also official statements, these have been denied).
One thing about it as far as the poll goes, all it would do is give them information that they would want so they could see what players would enjoy the most, be able to make even a better game and make more money.
it is the pledger’s responsibility to read and understand the goals and vision of warhorse. there are plenty of material including visual aids such as videos. there is no excuse to come in here not knowing anything about the game and asking for things like castle building, farming sim with female warrios and magic.
once you know what the game about, then it becomes clear what types of discussions will be fruitful. devs state they want realistic combat, therefore discussions about 14th and 15th century combat would be a very good topic to make and several have been made already with good information that can help the devs.
however, to just keep begging for things the devs are against is pretty much white noise and wasting everyone’s time.
I thought it was called consumer input, but okay…
