Poor Henry Play Through

Been playing this game incessantly and loving it. Thing is henry is too rich and too powerful now. I really want to stop and do another play through, this time really limiting what I can scavenge. I did this with Skyrim and it really boosted my enjoyment of the game.

Henry will remove from his defeated opponents (or any carcass lying in the road) only the armor and weapons that he can equip himself with. No scavenging and selling. Henry will scavenge limited small items like groschen, jewelry and food. With these limited resources Henry will make hos way in the world.

Henry does not at first know how to use a sword. Henry will be limited to axes, maces and pole arms at first. preferably pole arms to start, as these were the weapons of the poor. Henry will have to train himself to level 5 in swordsmanship before he is allowed to use a sword.

Henry does not know how to make proper use of heavy armor. Henry will be limited to very light armor at first. When Henry gets to defender 5 he can look into chain. When he gets to defender 10 he can learn to properly move in plate.

Henry will definitely steal, but with the same limitations as scavenging. No robbing the town blind and selling in the next town over.

Sounds like a good plan. I unchecked treasures of the past days ago because I went from nobody to sir knight far too quick. I fear I’m far too much the magpie for this to work for me though. But I may just try it sometime… Best o luck to ya.

I look forward to more. This sounds like a fun game

Very interesting idea!

I must try this when I am finished with my first playthrough

I already basically play this way, and have since ages ago with RPGs. Never felt right about leaving a trail of naked bodies. I still don’t have much in KC, even though I’ve got about 80 hours on one playthrough so far. Most groschen I’ve had was probably around 3K, and that’s down to 200 or so now just from living in the world. It’s a fairly rewarding experience. I’ve always hated becoming so rich in games that the prices don’t even matter.

I agree with this.
Just takingfood, jewelry and the occasional weapon (that you can carry as a side arm) or some random piece of armor to strap onto your horse was the way I ended up playing Skyrim in the end.
KCD seem to be a bit more harder to do that since hardly anyone seem to wear jewelry but the challenge seem fun enough and noone has died from some pouching if the belly is empty, right?

that sounds cools but I would put maces with swords…they really are powerful. As soon as I got a hammer I equipped it and have been using maces since. But, do as you will cuz it does sound like a fun way to play

I really want to start with pole arms. There is a mod that allows Henry to use them, but I only saw them late in the game on my first play through. Need to Find one.

Agree on maces. An axe seems a better choice for first weapon if pole arms are not available.

Right now it is a spiked club

Bludgeon :metal:t2:

There is another mod. You can buy the pole arms!

The huntsman in Talmberg had a hunting speer in his chest.(I don’t know if it’s in 1.25)

I’m doing a playthrough without touching any enemy corpses, so no taking armor either.I buy every piece of armor and weapons with earned coin. Absolutely no stealing, speech based character with low strength. Now the low paying side quests are really becoming worthwhile since every groschen you earn counts and holding onto even a thousand groschen gets challenging. Only way I make money now is through selling potions, dice, side quests and activities. It’s really fun this way.

You can find polearms, bows, maces, swords and axes in the guardtower next to Rattay’s church

My second start is a sneaky henry through the night with only light dark clothes a bow and dagger/shortsword poisend robbing the rich and sneaky kill cuman camps. In the day time only noble clothes with as much charisma as possible and speech skill very high to trade better and persuade anyone of what you want. No chain/plate mail through the whole game. No heavy or 2 handed weapons and no shield. I think anyone could handle a spear but only elite soldiers could use a halberd e.g. trying also to steal only as much as i can imagine to carry. 10 breastplates and swords and shields and helmets must look awesome in real life ^^. The weight of things is often to low or we can carry too much imao. I like the challenge to get a harder start and no over powered mid to endgame. Which kind of henry would you play as second or third start? Have fun

I’m starting a second play through tonight and I think I’m going to do a hunter/sneak/rogue(lock picking and pick pocket). Gonna get with Peshek and just run Miller quests as long as I can and make other money hunting and stealing…so pretty much what you said lol. I may even actually repent when I do Needle in the Haystack and try to wait out the whole year to become a monk; I hear there is an achievement for it.
One questions through, is there an achievement for completing the game and going with Hans on that last route? I saved right there last night and the game is pretty buggy so I’m definitely going to restart, just wanna grab that achievement if I can.

no, it ends after that

Right. I was surprised that there wasn’t an achievement for completion after the cutscene before when you’re supposed to meet with him so though maybe you get one after you ride with him to wherever.
