Pre-order: Why is there a Very Hard lock between me and what I paid for?

Just wondering why I have to level lockpicking up to Very Hard just to get armor I paid for in Pre-order? I am not doing a thieving playthrough, and only used lockpicking on main quest where it couldn’t be avoided. Now here I am in the middle of the forest unable to get what I pre-ordered unless I waste time leveling up a skill I don’t want to use. Aside from mods is there any way around this?

No. Either level up, pay a trainer, which still requires leveling up, or just use a mod.

No, you paid for the map.

Oh lord hahaha. If I can do it, so can you. It’s called…

Git gud

No I paid for a suit of specialty armor. And it was locked in a chest. At this point in the game I can just buy better armor so it’s easier just to ignore it. But thanks for the info fellow traveler of the interwebs.

Actually it is called I don’t want to waste time on it. I didn’t get this game to play Thief, I already have that game. I may do a rouge play through some other time, but not this time. This time I am a knight in training. Feel free to taunt someone for playing differently, but if your ego is so fragile it requires “gitting gud” and laughing at strangers over a video game, I’m sorry.

It’s because they are more worried about people using exploits than actually fixing there game.

No. You really did pay for the map, which leads you to the armor. It’s the same as buying a map from the wayfarers or merchants in game.

Not all lockpicking involves thieving, although while you say you didn’t want to play as a thief, you can’t have failed to notice that you clicked steal to get any of the other DLC armor you got, with the exception of the gambeson.

I mean, technically you didn’t pay anything extra then I did for the game. You just paid sooner.

they probably placed the lock to prevent you from getting good/great armour right from the start and spoil the game for yourself. A part of the fun is starting low and working your way up, getting better gear and becoming more skilled in the process.

No. It’s a separate code, and you can buy it separately. See here:

Technically he paid for the armor. Players that didn’t, can find the chests with or without the maps but can’t get the armor.

good question. is it a light saber or daedric armor that’s going to titl the balance of power in this game? if so, it’s not forward thinking…by the time a player gits gud enough he/she will likely already be able to beat most NPCs. so this treasure will just address a need that no longer exists.

currently, i don’t even wear anything other than hose on legs and med armor on top. so, why do i want to travel up to hunting shed outside skalitz for stuff i don’t need. there is no armor and/or weapon rack so the utility just isnt there.

i’d much rather have a boss and buddies battle. win? here you are you lucky rascal! lose? game over; try again

I can understand your frustration but by the time I got the first chest the armor in it was useless, kind of weird that they give a suit of specialty armor in a game where you never see the armor.

All these people saying he only prepay for the map that leads to treasures that others get don’t realize that if you don’t prepay you don’t get the warhorse armor. Lol

Grave desecration to get pre-ordered loot? Not a big fan of it. And, if you are going to lead me down that path, at least pacify me with a Miller Peshek classic or a compelling backstory

well if u take the time all u need is the 1st 3 perks and you can un-lock very hard locks.
1- Lasting Lockpicks - Lvl 3- Your lockpicks will be more durable and last twice as long.
2. Deft Grip Lockpick .Lvl 6 .The starting position when lockpicking will be closer to the end of the lock, making it easier to open.
3. Luck of the Drunk .Lockpick Lvl 6. It’ll be 30% easier to open locks when drunk, but it will also be 30% noisier.

perk 3 is most important. getting to level 6 is generally fast. good luck

Henry the lush :sake::beer::wine_glass:Prost!

Well, you can be also mad about the fact that you bought a game but now you have to bother to play it. Why do we have to play it, if we paid for it? It should be already finished!

BRO THANK U SO MUCH i had no idea i could buy that stuff still. the game was a gift . i remember the 1st time i seen that armor on a stream and was so jelly over it . now i just bought it for the best $5 bucks i ever spent . thanks again.

Isn’t it nice how you get thoughtful, mature, constructive, empathetic feedback like Aradiel who apparently couldn’t be bothered to spend 20 seconds googling to see what the preorder bonus was (which would have taken them to https://forum.kingdomcomerpg.com/uploads/default/original/3X/5/8/5832acc33fcb747cc443de2af451d57bf3001174.jpg) or the FOREVER classic “git gud” from Metalmaster"

And people say that forums are toxic and that gamers are overly-entitled a-holes… what silly nonsense.

Okay, that aside… I’m curious for specifics. Where is the armor? If they advertised something as a pre-order benefit and then locked it behind a specific gameplay style then that’s a bit shady. I fully understand if they wanted you to not be able to get it until a certain point in the game. THAT is fine. But if that’s the case they should have hidden it behind, say, a story/quest milestone. Hiding it behind a Very Hard lock, which can’t even be ATTEMPTED until you’re pretty high up in the Lockpicking levels, is a souring experience…
