I have just completed 10 hour of dying riding to Talmberg. I always die from the mounted archers before the cut scene. Since I can nit bandage, I infused a carrot with marigold something for a health buff. I still die. I am on a PC riding the named horse. I keep thinking o that my luck would change and the archers would miss shots but they do no. I tried raising my armor above the starter gear of 2 but the quilted jacket is a 2 as well. Anyone have any help. Please do not say that you did it on your first try. I don’t the discouragement. Thanks in advance.
It’s relatively easy to dodge arrows by zig-zaging all the way through, most of us made it without dying (Henry nearly died on my first try however).
No need to armor yourself or heal you on the way, simply don’t ride in straight line… 
Okay I have used the a and d keys to zig zag— I shall try try again.
Just checking, but are you actually gallopping?
On PS4 you need to rapidly press the circle button - not sure what key it is on PC, but you need to rapidly press a button to increase speed.
Yep dont forget to double-tap and hold the left shift key to gallop (return to fast trot to regen horse stamina when depleted, then gallop again until the end).
I died my first time trying to save the girl from the guys trying to rape her.
2nd try I made it as I left her to her fate…turns out she makes it out regardless, whether with her dignity in tact or not, i’m not certain.
You only have to hit one of the cumans once with your sword, then run away ; you’ll see Therese running away as they turn on you

Fenris-- thanks, I have the gallop down okay, and am getting farther down the road and I am working the a and D keys but still bleed out. I have a high pain tolerance will keep trying but am wondering if there is something I am doing very wrong.
Do you turn left when Henry says, “I should turn left” ??
Yes I turn left after the small bridge, I tried turning when he says that but my horse then gets hung up in the bushes along the stream frequently and then I die there. I have left bodies all over the place. I have the consol cheats that alow a quest to advance or unvulnerable come out soon. I hate to say that, but I spent too much money and too much time to be a pincushion in the tutorial!!! Can not even get to the main game.

Is there a special horse to ride? I have done it with the named horse where the woman is being raped and I have run past that and automatically finished the sub-quest of get a horse when the cut scene starts with the baker’s horse. I know horses have different stats but it makes no difference to my death which one I am riding.
Not sure, I just grabbed the horse near Theresa…
First time I died because I tried to be noble and save her, those Cumans ripped my ass up (and probably hers as well).
Second time I just jumped on the horse and galloped towards the town the story tells you to run to. I did get shot once by and arrow, but then as other posters stated began to zig-zag and dodged the rest.
Keeping a good rhythmn of gallop and trot to conserve stamina seemed important as keeping your distance reduced the number of shots the archers will take.
It’s definitely not impossible, nor all that difficult…when you mentioned getting stuck on bushes I was rather surprised as clearly you’re not staying on the road…you will gallop faster on roads btw.
