PS4 patch 1.05 added input lag

My first post. This is my favorite game in over 7 years let me start by saying that in case a Dev sees this then THANK YOU for your involvement.

To the point tho. PS4 patch 1.05 seems to have added quite noticeable input lag on the PS4 and it’s really taking me out of the experience. I fxcking hate input lag so damn much. It’s awesome that this game is receiving continued support and I realize it would be weird to go back on the vsync change or whatever caused this but the game feel much less immersive with slippery controls. Casual players won’t know what it is hence you think “oh good less complaints” but they will perceive it even if they don’t know they do.
Also for anyone who can answer how do I go back a patch? And keep my saves? I can’t go back just one huh?

Hi how much do you think is the input lag? Is it only in combat? Need to decide if i will download or not

@Couldowitabitetoeat I noticed it too and its a bit anoying. But the graphics are a much better now. If i have to choose between the horrible texture pop ups or a bit of input lag i choose input lag.
Lets hope we can have better graphics and no input lag with the next update.

@kenji The input lag is for all actions but it is not that bad. I had some fights and I didnt notice it that much.

All it did for me on PS4 was increase the draw distance. Graphics are not enhanced they’re actually worse. I’m watching cut scenes with Hans Capon completely white with absolutely no features lol my horse appears to only be wearing armor and hair and yes the lag is very noticeable and kind of ruins it for me as well. I would have been happy if they just fixed the game breaking save file corruption. The graphic they added for lockpicking is a joke lol it doesn’t make it easier, I never had a problem to begin with. There’s still the same amount of difficulty picking you just get a graphic to help guide the sweet spot.

Also, I don’t know how but it seems the final hour of wait or sleep is even longer haha

I thought i was the only one noticing the input lag or how it’s called. Horizontal turning is like … slower than before the patch. It’s truly annoying. I hope it gets fixed. Love the game - it’s different.

i’d actually rather have the texture popping than the input lag hahaha. With texture popping i’d just save the game and load it.

I would take ANYTHING over input lag lol. Currently not playing :frowning:

we need a hotfix for this, i guess.

Unfortunately on console there is no way to go back to a previous version aside from the base game (1.0) on the disc. Saves will not work with previous versions of the game either.

I felt the same way as you after patch 1.2 caused what I consider to be horrendous pop-in that completely ruined my immersion. I haven’t played the game much since that patch, but was loving it on version 1.1.

We all have different things that we prioritise in our gaming experience, for me the input lag doesn’t really bother me. But I can sympathise with having a great experience with the game only for that to be taken away by a patch that you can’t revert. It’s incredibly frustrating and compounded by the fact we are powerless to do anything but wait and hope that the developers resolve the issue in the next patch.

What exactly do you mean by input lag?

My L2 and R2 don’t seem to respond (sometimes) the first time I depress them, but they work 2nd time, etc for rest of battle. I had this with 1.2.5

Same here. Before this patch, the only main issues I had were slow textures on the roofs of houses, walls, and occasionally NPC armor and clothing, as well as some broken quests such as Courtship and House of God. Now, after the patch, not only are there constant pop ins of houses, NPCs, bridges, walls, pretty much everything, but now the textures of the actual NPC’s THEMSELVES take forever to load in, basically making any NPC I have talked to look like a papermache art project in middle school. It’s really sad too, because I was getting hooked on this game, and the amazing details and accuracy the Devs put into this made pushing past the slow texture load ins worth it, but I don’t know if I can continue playing with 50% of the environment loading in and out every time I turn around. I really, REALLY hope they release a hot fix soon, lord only knows when the next patch is coming out…

Only as it seems to be becoming relevant here (a few users experiencing an identified issue);
The only way to ensure all game files sit neatly together on your disc (especially after any patching), is to backup game off disc and then restore game to a large clean area of your hard drive… (eg at the start of the drive -being the outside of the drive platter where the first few games were installed for those who have filled their drives previously and have had to delete data to make space for ‘more games’-most likely being affected by another issue (fragmentation) being seperate to any issues the game might have.

It will be an ongoing issue that affect different groups of users after each patch, meaning many will blame devs for issues with their consoles drives.

We should get familiar with how to rebuild our game file whilstever the patches coming out remain large (especially if they alter graphics).
