I don’t see any reason why it shouldn’t be made optional at least. Personally, I’ve never enjoyed watching NPCs survive what should be lethal attacks, I’ll be greatly disappointed if it isn’t even made an option.
The funny thing is, if you stamina dump, and are left with zero stamina, but full HP, then you can take a single arrow that will take most of your HP, and leave you bleeding out for the tiny fraction that is remaining. Meanwhile, if you’re at full stamina, you can take arrows all day, as long as you take a few seconds between hits, so your stamina can recover.
Often you will hit someone six or more times, and do this in a few bursts, so hit them six times in a full stamina dump and then retreat to recharge, and do that two or three times. Then, they get ONE lucky hit on you, but because your stamina is so low, you take massive damage.
It’s also very difficult to judge how well you’re doing in a long fight against a strong opponent because you have no idea what their stamina and HP are, or if they’re bleeding.
I think insta-kills could be done as a reward for finishing a difficult combo at high level of sword skill. Or a very well-timed parry could kill straight away (stab in the face with a sword for example). Axe to the unprotected head should always be deadly
You can see when they bleed, they hold their chest and are trying to get away from you.
Maybe not changing health but instead making weapons deadly (like you know in real life )
You can see blood, but that doesn’t mean they are bleeding, as in taking damage over time.

[/quote]They certainly do hunch over, but aren’t always trying to run when they do. They can still take several hits, even when hunched over and limping. Likewise, they can run away without being hunched over.
They do bleed, if you leave them alone and just wait - they will drop dead eventually.
