Questions on empty camps

As the title suggests, I am confused to see the vast majority of camps in the game being empty all of the time. With the exception of the handful of bandit camps that fortunately respawn, every campsite that I visit is always empty. Keep in mind that I have only completed the Ruin quest line from Captain Bernard and thus perhaps the Cuman quest line will eventually open up the rest of the games campsites.
However, as you know, on the map there are these “smoke” drawings which I guess designate where camp sites are. Yet when I go to them, as stated above, they are empty of people ever single time. With the exception of two or three sites.
I am playing on the PS4 Slim which is pretty much the base PS4 but more energy efficient I guess. Are the base console versions gimped in terms of world npc population? Is the PC version more populated with bandits and Cumans as well as having all its campsites populated? Or are all versions of KCD the same with the exception of graphics?

In the picture I posted, you can see the smoke drawing (at the upper left) I am talking about. This particular one just happens to be one of the few campsites that are populated with guys to fight. Thanks for any clarification on this matter! KingdomComeSmoke

Vanilla PS4. The camp in the pic is a logging camp that appears to be populated with NPCs; it seems to be an exception. Most appear vacated.

Some of the best places to get enemy loot isn’t at camp or smoke icons but at battle spawn points

There is a map out there of bandit camps someone made. Some camps have people or the lack there of. You realize you will have to sleep and strange as it is you can’t sleep at a logging camp or charcoal camp very well. So they leave camps out there for you to camp at to some degree. If you follow from bandit camp to bandit camp you can kill indefinitely because the spawn time is like 7 days. I always enjoy the rotation of killing the camps.

In your picture there is two camps near you, one near the stone structure south of the road to the NE, and if you travel south along the road you will hit another one just north of the road in the second half the arc. That one to the south is a tough camp sometimes, so beware. In general that is a dangerous area of ambush and just people popping out of the woods too. Sasau camps by far the hardest to wipe out, but if you sneak, you just kill them in their sleep.

Meanwhile I know 23 bandit camps. They respawn at least within a ingame week after a raid, sometimes even within 2 days. So you always should have stuff to … whatever you want to do with them.

The camp in your pic is a small one, max. 4 bandits afair. Just wait a few ingame days. And try to raid the camp next to the interesting site below your players icon, there are more of them.
