R.I.P NPC. Funerals for NPC's

Haha I hope but some people will still go on mass killings

I don’t know how it would work with mass killings, especially if only a few characters are left alive to “bury” them. Would be rather an empty church. Also if the player decides to barge in they might (should) be pretty startled. Personally I’d like the fighting to be difficult against multiple players so the player’s going to have really hard time killing everyone or at least the guards should interfere with such behaviour.

EDIT: This is just because I’d really like to have the game reprimand the player for attempting to go on an unstoppable killing spree by actually killing / punishing the player for doing such a thing. Which would be nice since this is supposedly somewhat realistic depiction of medieval life and not a rags to superheroism story like Elder Scrolls.

I imagine there will already be graveyards by churches in the game anyway. This means you could just do it in a (fairly) simple way by just giving a few graves, and plots in the graveyard, the ability to be ‘open’ then sealed up. If there are 3 or 4 of these in one place most players probably won’t notice if a grave is used twice, this way there is no real limit. NPC’s can gather around one of these for the service, then someone can seal it.

Grave robbing is an interesting subject, you could wait until the family of the deceased has left then rob the fresh grave. Although, of course, this is morally objectionable it could also be quite profitable, if you are not caught.

After a battle there could be people with carts (like in the ‘Bring out your dead’ Monty Python sketch) collecting corpses. You could probably loot from the bodies of the fallen as well. I am not sure though if these bodies would be buried or burnt after a large battle.
