Hello,
I know this is probably going a bit far, but wouldn’t it be interesting if when an NPC, like an innocent innkeeper, is killed the people around him change their daily routine and go to the church for a funeral the next day. Is this possible? It would make sense if the character is a good standing member of the community, it could make the world seem more alive (no pun intended).
And depending on how important they are more people would attend.
Religion in the middle age is very common and a social driving force, so this type of stuff have lot of sense to me. Plus, It’d be nice to have inquisition, fanatics, religious sects just as the real thing you know!
As the engine allows intuitive NPC behaviour and routines which depends on situations I guess this would be doable. Although I don’t know if they want to do it as it can interfere with some of the NPC routines which are essential to the Player.
They could prevent this problem by only letting “unimportant” NPCs attend at the funerals.
Sounds in general like a nice idea but maybe this is asked too much already.
This would be a great thing to have in the game and would add a great deal to the immersion. Perhaps an idea for a mod if the developers don’t put it in the vanilla game?
I think it would also be possible for the essential NPCs. As they said, there won’t be dedicated story NPCs that are just standing there waiting for the player to complete a quest.
The NPCs will live their lives and if you’re willing to talk to them, you will have to wait until they can do so.
So talking to an NPC during a funeral will make him angry (unless you tell him you’re sorry).
That would be very interesting and would really feel alive if done good.
if this would be done really good it would be fun (not directly fun, but yeah). As mentioned several times from the other users. Stand there one day in a funeral moment and people would react to their own ways after the funeral.
Yeah it would be cool if you could go to funeral of someone, you just killed.
I support this idea, it really adds to the immersion that you just haven’t killed an empty vessel, but someone who perhaps had a family there loved him and some friends too. Also, the death of a loved one should decrease your efficiency as a worker meaning that you will produce less goods and then when the player needs to goods from the village where he just committed murders there might not be what he is looking for or it is on limited stock.
It might even help to stop players going on random massacres of NPC’s. Although I doubt it
I had the same thought.
Yeh, imagine that you can’t sell anything to the merchant because you killed his best friend or something. You would have buy from others with prices 3 times higher …
Yes it is good idea. NPC´s should have also routine based on week period. I think in that time they visited church every sunday, women maybe have some week plan. For example on monday laundry in Sázava river, on tuesday repairing of old cloth etc… It could be also good for better orientation in time. I also wonder if there will be changing seasons, because if for example winter will be approaching, people should do wood supplies. Simply if NPC´s will influence enviroment will be also enviroment influence them?
Good idea…would like to see it implemented
Is it weird that I am thinking of setting up on a roof or running behind people and cutting/shooting them as they are distracted but the ceremony?. heh… So many possibilities and so much death.
There could be other people that doesn’t go to this ceremonies, like guards. And people could expect that you go to a particular one and if you don’t show up they may become less friendly (like merchant raising prices).
I myself want this implemented but we have to take a look at how to make it work. Change of routine and crowd sync is not a problem, but for example handling of graves and burrying itself is. so we will see.
Does that mean that if a lowly forester is killed his body will just lay there being pecked at by crows, wolves and maggots until he becomes a skeleton?
I think these are some questions worth answering for having this implemented (maybe not all, but some).
- How many graveyards?
- What’s the limit of people buried?
- What will they do if the limit is reached?
- What are the best spots for the richer people?
- How much time will have to pass until one spot is available?
- How many people will work there ?
- There will be catacombs?
- Will there be cremation (don’t know if there was cremation at that time and place)?
- People will be buried with some of his/her possessions?
- Will there be grave robbers?
- After a battle who will collect the corpses? The nears town or from each town that where involved?
- After the battle will there someone robbing the corpses?
