Random game crashes

My game randomly crashes, sometimes before the main menu, after the intro video, other times after seconds of gameplay, or after minutes.
I’ve tested with graphics on low, also on high and very high. Running a Vega 64, so it should have plenty of power, the steam FPS overlay never goes below 30 on very high, and stays at 60 on low.

Please help. DxDiag.txt (93.8 KB)

Also tried moving the install off the SSD and on to a standard drive, still nogo. still random crashes, even on the lowest graphics settings.

I am now re-downloading the game, but I have my doubts… I see others get error messages, I get nothing, I just CTD

I have same thing with game. Crashes usually happens when rapid skip dialogs and open or close inventory.

I have now tried : a full reinstall of the game
deleted my old save games
everything from low to high graphics
vsync off and on
Old graphics driver
new driver
second to last driver
Neither my CPU nor GPU is overclocked
game on SSD and HDD
Closed all background programs
Set full priority in task manager

I still don’t get a single error message, it just CTD’s with no message at all, it can take all from 10 seconds to 5 minutes when I load an existing save, while a new game will often run for 10 minutes or more. I seriously doubt a clean windows install will solve anything.

is there anything else I can try? Any tips at all?

Same thing happens to me on Vega 56 but only since the 1.2.2 Update.

I tried reinstall windows, but it not solve the problem. May be it help on your machine.

Yeah, I just reinstalled windows, still nogo. Started new game, crashed on the very first dialogue.
Any Devs, community managers or others that need ANY info, anything at all, to help resolve this?

May be it will be repaired in major patch? I also send this to support. But i found only this topic about our problem.

Yeah, I submitted my ticket on the first day, still awaiting a response.

My last resort is to test with an older graphics card, I will do so a bit later tonight

I tried also on R9 270. But still crash.

Just reinstalled my Vega 64. my HD 7970 didn’t even get to start the game… So thats it for now, this game is unplayable. It is a shame, because I WANT to play it.

If the devs concentrate on “fixing” lockpicking instead of game crashes, they need to get their priorities straight. I find the lack of communication disturbing

I WANT to play it.

Same shit, bro.
Lets see what devs will do. In positive most of quest problems will be solved, and we have complete wiki when we get possibility to play.

My temporary solution (it still crashes a lot, mind you)

I now play in native borderless, all on high, which I have tested before, but one change :

Compatability mode, windows 7.

I still get frequent crashes, but I got the mod that lets you save whenever, so I DO savescum, before I enter the map, before I do things in my inventory, before I know there will be dialogue, and after every… 20 minutes of gameplay.

There are still SO many crashes, but atleast I can get past them and not lose all my time played…

Game crashing randomly as well on my r9 390x. I started playing when update 1.2.2 rolled out so my experience was already broken from the start. This issue seems to be connected to all AMD GPUs. I must mention that i tried using the new GPU drivers 18.2.2 but it didn’t fix the issue.

1.2.5 still not work. And i get 6 hours in tries to repair this shit. Steam will not return my money. Well played warhorse.

Problem must be in AMD drivers. RX480 on 18.2.2 drivers and i have same problem.

It happens on xbox too so it’s the game not your systems.
