Request For A Combat Dummy To Help Learn The Rhythm Of Combos

As the title states… It would be super cool if the devs put in a simple dummy near the practice rings to allow Henry to enter “Combat” mode allowing us as players to practice getting the rhythm of combo attacks. My opinion is that weapons used to hit the dummy should take normal wear and tear damage forcing you to repair the gear after chopping wood for a bit. I also think that practice versus the “Dummy” and practice against NPC’s with wooden swords should not allow a player to level up. Only using real gear against other NPC’s with real gear should allow any leveling. This would make sure you have to “Pay” for leveling with wound healing and gear maintenance.

My two cents…

I second this request. For the Dummy to be included that is.
Even though you can still train with town Captains.

Yeah, the Captain is too quick for me to really get a handle on how to execute combos… I’m confused as hell as to what the white direction indicator means and what the correct timing is.

In the prologue, you can train with a swordman, that won’t attack you during said training.

A dummy wouldn’t attack you either, so i don’t see how that would help.

Just practice with bandits, they’re weak and slow, make a save point before you attack one, and repeat until you feel you got the hang of it.

While you can train with Bernard indefinitely, I pretty much agree with this. I have trouble explaining to people who come over to try the game how the combat system works because they just get rekt by Bernard before they can get a feel for it. Only leveling up if you’re using real gear is a pretty good idea, since levelling up too fast is a problem with the game right now.

I’m way past the prologue… So thats a mute point.

Bernard is too fast to allow me to land a combo, the low skill bandits either die too quickly, or I’m not in a state to
practice against a high skill bandit because I’m trying to beat him… And I love the saving mechanic now and arent into “Gaming” the game. It ruins immersion. A practice dummy doesn’t need to fight back, it just needs to activate combat mode with Henry so I can "Get the Rhythm and timing of the different combos… " Plus it will give me the opportunity to memorize the combos as well.

The problem is you can’t really execute combos on a dummy because executing a combo requires the opponent to block all the strikes.
It could be made possible I guess, but it would also look strange since every strike is also a step forward

Thats just a code issue… The dummy would be blocking all the attacks from a code perspective… So it would thrash your weapon and give you the player the opportunity to really practice the timing.
