Role of women in the game?

In your images and trailers, I didn’t see alot of the fairer sex. Was wondering to what extent interactions with women would be part of the game? For example, do you get to marry off your sons/daughters to gain the allegiance of other nobles? Recruit camp “followers” as spies?

As far as I know you can’t marry, or have sons and daughters. The timeframe of the story is too short for that (It all should happen during just few months).
There is confirmed at least one important female in the game. She will be actually a playable character with separate story arc (as far as I understood she will be playable in prologue, that may not be mandatory to play)

maso pretty much covers it. There’s a female character who you’ll play in the prologue who overlaps with Henry’s story in the main plot, but that’s the biggest female role we know of so far.

I don’t think they’ve outright ruled out romance sidequests/plots altogether (or at least opportunities for the MC to get laid), but the scope of the game is much too short for establishing families.

At least in Act I. Who knows what will happen in Acts II and III.

it takes 9 month just to conceive, there’s additional months related to courtship and establishing family ties.

and why are you comparing medieval setting with modern germany?

I am afraind I do not understand what you are trying to say.
That before a war people tend to move quicker into a relationship than in other times?

I believe that family can be established without child being concieved or born.

I am not sure we all understand each other.

No one disuputs that you can get a child in the time of war, but just the fact that the story of a 1st act will be taking place in span of few months.
And therefore there is not much time to find a girl, steal her heart, marry her and have a child.

Well… that at least I think is issue here.

good point.

If it is really open world, the time span of a story should not matter.

Did not occur to me.

It’s true that the game is technically open-world, but as I understand it, it’s not really a ‘sandbox’ game like the Elder Scrolls series or a ‘medieval simulator’. It’s more story-focussed, like the Witcher games. There will be possibilites for romance, if the devs are to be believed, but things like marriage and raising a family probably wouldn’t fit into the storyline.

All could think about when I read this was that germanies population is actually pretty old.
on this map it looks like they have the lowest birth rate in the world. (Funny enouth all similar tings seem to be true for other axis powers)

but I get now that “as a war could start” was not ment as a comparison between how fast a war can start and how fast people have children.

romantic love isn’t really seen as a requirement for marrige befor the 19.th centurey. Funnly enouth even the common people cared a lot a about not marring beneath them. I remember an exemple where an allready pregnent women, from the peasantry of the early modern period, was advised against and didn’t marry the father of her child as he was only a farmworker.

I do not think that players would think in this way. Because at the end the romance story would depend on player mentality and not on the historical accuracy as players would be one in charge.

good point. of course the general tendency doesn’t mean it wasn’t a factor. however there are atleast 2 parties involved in a marriage so it’s not all the players decition.

Yes, everone can edit it and even if the map is “real” it’s still outdated and incapable of representing regional differences within contries. But I didn’t base my comment on this map, i used it as an illustration. This is what I heard on the subject. If it doesn’t represent what is happening in your 20k town and see on TV there are easier explainations for this than a world consperisy. But I don’t want to derail the tread any further.
