Runt fight ruined because he wears no helmet

Okay it’s time says the game! Time to get revenge!!! You tracked down this bastard. Hunted down his cronies. Now it’s time to rip your father’s sword from his cold dead hands!

Wait why is nobody wearing helmets? Okay I’m sure his height will prevent me from comboing him in the head or something like how every blow hit his shoulders during tutorial.

And one and two and FALSE EDGE!!1… he’s dead… one hit… dead… okay… maybe he should have worn his helmet… Is this game a PSA from the 1400’s about work safety or something? What a gigantic let down.

Now I can deal with bugs. I am sure those will get fixed, hell alchemy benches that kill you, invisible cumans, heck even the vagabond stuck in the stocks for nearly two weeks now. All is cool. I’ll just do a second play through when the game gets patched proper… but why does Runt not wear a helmet?!

This is the mid boss of the game. This should not be a one hit battle. He should have pulled up at least a skull cap. Then I would have felt really smart for stabbing him in the face and one hitting him because AHA!!! You see I saw he had a skullcap so I attacked his unguarded face… now it’s just a sword to the head and he dies.

Fix this boss please.

many people complain that he’s too hard to fight
you did it right and aimed to the head, and actually landed a one hit.
it happens, and I guess its realistic this way… sorry if you prepared for an epic bossfight
at the same time some people try to kill him and redo this scene 30 times until they manage to do so.
I dont know if its a huge balance issue. When I think about lockpicking and the massive problems some have or even about the horseride in the prologue I dont think you should make runt harder to kill.
next time go in without any armor and with a broken weapon, it’ll be harder

I did go without armour just for the lolz. One hit and he was dead. Runt needs an helmet.

Okay but that’s not an argument for not wearing a helmet. So people didn’t pay attention to the dmg mechanics? So maybe I did go into the bandit camp solo and murdered 25 cumans and bandits based on nothing but audio que ripostes and 1 hit stabs to the head.

Why doesn’t Runt wear a helmet though? Like I said just a skull cap would be enough to make the fight FEEL good. The problem isn’t the one shot. The problem is that my FIRST response was. Why doesn’t he wear a helmet? Then one hit KO with a stab to the face. Then me saying “Guess he should have worn a helmet”.

The fight FEELS bad for that reason. Like when you call out the ending of a detective movie midway.

the problem is many players dont play as intelligent as you are
they aim anywhere but on the head.
The Developer made him wear no helmet so players should identify this as a weak point, appears that not everyone sees this… you might say its their fault and you are right
for me it also could be a little harder, guess it also depends on how long you have already skilled henry until you get into this fight.

Developers also made an argument for historical realism. Historical realism says put on your helmet.

I don’t care if they paint an arrow on the helmet that says “Stab him in the face” give him a helmet.
Or right before the fight you can ask the question if they can chew bubblegum and walk at the same time.

If the answer is no Runt just suffers a heart attack and dies.

I aimed for the head and still couldn’t touch him…had to cheese him with the bow. He just parries everything and always ripostes

It took me 15 minutes to finally kill him, and I was almost dead too. Great, you one shot him in the head. All my blows to his head got parried/riposted. Believe me I was trying so hard to hit him in the head. Eventually I just put away my weapon and beat him to death in a corner with my fists. It’s just random luck.

Not all fights are epic ones…you fought well against him, it’s realistic this way.

unless you trained a lot i find it hard to believe you ran into the camp and soloed the whole thing no problem. if you did, you need to stop playing games because there is nothing left for you. This game isnt overly difficult, but it shouldnt be thaaaaat easy

No it’s not realistic because he’s not wearing a goddamned helmet!

Seriously people you have DODGING and FEINTS. I feinted him to the left. Dodged into his swing. Hit him over the head. Right slash. Downward left. Pulled the combo. It’s not hard.

I understand it might not have been THIS easy for you… but would a helmet make it any harder for you? It would make the game better for me though if he did wear a helmet.

same. it wasnt terrible but obviously i aimed for his unarmored area, im not some filthy casual lol. he blocked/parried everything i threw at him; just had to wait it out

I wasn’t wearing one either, it was fair

Runt looks badass without a helmet in my opinion. You got lucky and landed a blow to his head. He’s usually defending that part the most. It would be cool if he had a helmet with his visor up during the cutscene, and towards the end, he pulled it down and readied himself for the fight. For a longer and more serious duel. But others will say, “It’s even harder now!”

i find dodging/feinting difficult because i’m already always moving, so to move at the right time, while already moving, it hard for me to pull off. I’m well past the Runt fight but i use a Bailiffs Mace and Shield, plate armor and mess dudes up. Did quite a bit of free training with Cpt Bernard and no one really stands a chance now. If i do a bandit camp raid for Bernard i’ll 1 hit these chumps; really dont think ill find another formidable opponent in this game at this point

Yeah, we need stronger opponents or at least more numbers. I feel once I get good gear and a high level, I’d be killing everything with a single blow. I want a challenge! m1-spinning

Harder enemies mod exists if you want it.

im on xbox one  no mods yet. but ill manage. if need be ill back down on armor and weapon or whatever. I’m having fun, im just saying day or two in game spent with Cpt Bernard, a mace, a shield, and some decent armor make for a pretty OP time

Also, i still have quite of bit of story line ahead of me. The Runt fight is so far the only large scale fight I’ve done, and if that’s it I’ll be sad, even though its a fun game. Ive been putsing around on side quests but its time to get back to it. I think once I’m done with story mode I’m going to be a hunter. Take camp with some charcoal burners or in a bandit camp I’ve raided. Post up, hunting for a day or two in game, sleeping in my camp, and running meat back to town just in time for it to not quite spoil. I think hunting will be the most immersive way to play post game; I’m really hoping for an immersive camping mod like Campfire for Skyrim.

I killed him with two quick jabs to the face while he was coming at me. He never touched me, shortest boss fight ever. I wasnt sure if i should be disappointed in the anticlimactic moment or proud that my henry had prepared himself so well.
