Sadness with scenario options

Despite the bugs which there are many and the terrible aggro code, i have greaty enjoyed this game.

However at certain points in the story im dissapointed. We have so much freedom and choice in this game but at time the game doesnt deliver on your choices.

For example. The competition hunting rabbits with the lord. Doesnt matter what you do because the response is always the same. The response acts like you didnt catch many if any. In reality i killed 7 and looted them.

But here is the MASSIVE example and the reason i made an account and this post.
At one point in the story you go after Runt or whatever his name is. So at this point im scouting out the encampment. I decide before i buy the game that im gonna solo this encampment. Hopefully that would be an option right? Nope. After 8+ hours of dealing with the bugs and dumb aggro code i finally clear the entire camp of enemies. I go to kill runt and he isnt even there. My massive accomplishment is nearly useless because that option wasnt coded in. I go back to my lord and there isnt even an option to tell him i cleared the camp.

Im all for having lots of choices. this game was advertised as being able to complete things in differant ways. So i completed it in a differant way. Its not even an odd way or uncommon. In fact i bet a lot of players will do the same as me. But when the game doesnt recognize my actions then those choices are meaningless.

I was really hoping to report back to my lord that i solo’d the camp. I was hoping at the very least that i could report back to my lord that i have taken out most of the forces. Instead the best i get is the option to say there are only a “few”. no credit being given to me. Soon ill be going back with the army and i hope that there are not respawns otherwise im gonna be so pissed.

Oh even better. mission begins and entire camp respawned. Yay for effort and time wasted

Pretty sure on the hare hunt part, it’s more of Hans being a douche than the game not recognizing your achievement. Same as when you had an archery contest and then a duel with him. I destroyed him in both and he acted as if I barely managed that.

To be honest, the game is an open world RPG so I get where you’re coming from and in a sense I agree. But KCD is also delivering a captivating story at the same time. If you just went back to radzig like “here’s his head, next quest please” you wouldn’t be able to enjoy the cinematics or the plot that warhorse have clearly put a lot of focus on.

well, as for the competition with Hans, i beat him in both archery and swordfight, then i went to the hunt and killed over 10 hares or so, so he said something like ‘not bad at all, considering ur a blacksmith’s boy’ or whatever
there he’s not being a douche, he’s joking with you, that’s his way of being friendly i figured

oh and also after he says ‘not bad at all’, Henry says something like demanding a ‘prize for the victor’ (Henry himself), to what Hans replies something like ‘a serf demanding coin from his lord’ in a joker tone

Anyone tried catching only 1 2 hares to see how Hans reacts?

But the game advertised and showed in the videos that there are multiple ways to complete every quest including main ones. Now i play henry like a rogue and im being forced into a duel with Runt in heavy armor which isnt my play style or what im skilled in. It auto saved her so now i have infinite atempts to beat him while i start the fight with half hp and in a 3 peice of black leather. I understand story telling but there isnt any other way to play this out. Im forced to complete this quest the way they want me to even if i have no possible way of winning it

I only caught 1 hare because I was drunk and couldn’t even see half a meter in front of me but managed to kill a hare by missing another, you still win.

Acutally hans was surprised and told me i did well after the hunt. I think it depends on how many rabbits you get.
