Save and exit option

Are they really going to change that saving option where you have to buy schnapps? Please please dont change that if they change it it Will feel Like a normal rpg and there Will be no risks in game…

Im guessing “Save and exit option” is more like in Mount & Blade if you ever played that. So in this case you could save by using schnapps as normal, but if you need to turn off the game and are far away from a save point or mid quest you can just press “save & exit” and return to the main menu. This is most likely a temporary save and gets deleted once you continue your campaign.

personally i like the save system like it is right now.
But with all the bugs and crashes on console, i would like to be able to save without any restriction

yes the exit save will get deleted after loading it so you wont be able to abuse it in any way.

Except back the save up and just paste it back in after it is deleted.

Actually in both M&B and TW this could be abused.

Spoiler: Abuse

You would just Alt-Tab Out and kill the process - no new save done and the old one Not overwritten so you could Go Back and try again.

this is just ridiculous
if its possible yes some may do that but only when they want to ruin the game for themselves
keep in mind its a singleplayer game everyone can handle it just like he prefers.

True, I’m just saying that it’s not an un-abusable system

well someone can chose to abuse or not, i personally always chose to not abuse game mechanic.

The “issue” of abuse is not really relevant, the same person that would go through that trouble will just install unlimited save mod.

Jeezus. WTH is stopping you octane level, testosterone inflated Dark Soul warriors from simply NOT manually saving your game? Basically if want to play that way, then DON’T MANUALLY SAVE THE GAME. That way–when your game CTD/freezes etc. and you lose 100% of your last 4 hours gaming progress–you only have YOURSELF to blame.

Why do you insist on enforcing your style of game play on everyone else?

Oh nvm. You’re in the luck btw. The dev agrees with you this asinine bed-potion coupled save game mechanic won’t be going anywhere soon. If this Polygon article is to be believed:

Elite:Dangerous anybody?

There is no saving at all in that game. You just come back and pick up where you left off when you left the game.

Everything you do is permanent and irreversible.

It works wonderfully.

well now you don’t say. This is most definitely interesting

Thanks for bringing up this upcoming release. It will be interesting to see if the Dark Soul e Peen keyboard jockeys abandon KCD for this on Steam when it goes live next week. :joy:

you can’t really compare it to Elite since you can’t die in that game. you “escape” and get your ship back from the insurance company, if you have insurance. If not you still keep all your other credits, reputation and so on and in worst case you can always get the crappiest ship for free if i’m not mistaken. (never had to find out)

In KCD you just die, and then what, restart from the beginning? That would be more like a “ironman” mode from other games.

True. But its the suspension mechanic that is the focus here. If you die I would assume you just revert back to the last actual save file.

we’ll see how they choose to implement it, but to me that seems like the most logical way to do it. If you die you can continue from any of your old saves - excluding the save & exit one, since it’s deleted.

I love the current save system as where other survival games like FO4 only have one option like sleep to save.

How ever i am not opposed to this proposal of save and exit idea as long as it can be made so it cant be exploited.

Real mature. Who is the loser?

What do you mean by “exploited”?

How is my “exploiting” saves on my PC platform (assuming you’re also on the PC and not console) even remotely affect the level of difficulty you think you’re losing in your game?

Like exploiting a quick save like ppl have in skyrim and fall out
