To me.. how my character's personality evolves and changes during play.. and how the world changes around him.. are the important part of the story. How many people he hits with his sword along the way is the unimportant bit. This includes if he marries someone, has kids, etc...
Indeed. How can one be role-playing a womanizing bard, without the promise and reward of sex?
It would be utterly boring to just sing songs, tell tales and weave a web of intrigue and mischief.
Even without role-playing the bard, I want to be able to engage in sex as much as I want to be able to slit my enemyâs throat. Itâs the middle ages after all.
cool, so you just want to watch a movie.
It is so tempting to answer "So, you just want to play a first person shooter" to your comment, but I will answer a bit more fully than that. In a movie there is no input from the observer as to how the character grows and how the plot unfolds. In a game like this there needs to be a way for me to have input. The balance they need to provide is enough choices to make me feel like I am having a say in what is happening but limited enough that the game is creatable. Having to many options can not only delay the game with all the extra work for paths that people will not take, but can actually become annoying and pull the player out of the game.
Given how popular sex is (and I'm not talking about the graphic two people doing the naughty, rather I'm talking about story sex where they can fade to black or do all sorts of other clever tricks to avoid showing the deed) it seems like that would be a popular path to include. That the character you play may be a romantic and fall in love, or a womanizer and run around like a hungry hound.. there are all sorts of possibilities that open up roleplaying paths that, I suspect, a lot of people will want to go down.
Most of the objections I have seen have been from people either saying that these options shouldn't be included because they don't want to play that story path (without addressing that many people probably do) and from people who are concerned that the additional roleplaying options will detract from the effort of building the combat. Of the two, the second argument carries more weight with me. There is a limited amount of effort a company can put into building a game. But I put to you that for this game to be a roleplaying game, there needs to be roles to play.. and the sex/romance story is an EASY addition compared to many of the more esoteric paths.

P.S. And Ragnar, Iâm sorry about deleting my post, I was trying to edit it and ended up deleting it instead when I realised I hadnât read it carefully enough.
Thatâs alright, I was supporting you ; )
Anyone who played âDefender of the Crownâ as a teenager knows how exciting the promise of sex in that game was and how the âdamsel in distressâ theme kept you playing through the night. Now, more than 25 years later, the promise of sex in this game is as appealing to me as it was back then.
So no in game streaking through the Kings courtâŠdam it thatâs why I backed this game.
Iâd be fine with sex and children. Unfortunately I believe this game is based on rule time not over a series of years so even if you had conceived a child youâd never see him/her born.
I donât think that there would be anything wrong with sex in the game per say. However, I donât believe that the flapping about of e-penis and e-breast should necessarily be included either as a cut screen/fade to black would work just as fine in the simulation aspect of an in game romance between your character and an NPC.
You realize these âmoronsâ outnumber you by quite a few, right?
Iâd like to see sex part of the game the story. It is only right for the setting and I honestly donât mind much how its presented as long as we donât get porno-level plots thrown in.
Sex neednât be presented âtastefullyâ or âenrich the storyâ all the time were it to appear. Sex in real life sure isnât either of these sure arenât most of the time, and this is a realistic game, no?
Why, yes, since you ask, Iâm a perverted moron indeed!
only if they accept his definition of them, in which case, i feel bad for those âmoronsâ.
clearly, heâs not talking about everyone who wants sex in the game, but those who want it for reasons involving lubricant and tissues.
Sex was a common thing in the mideval times, or more openly talked about and brothels were commonplace. For the story I would like to see at least some form or another involving sex as it fits in the game story as far as I can see, but no mass effect love stories. that would be bad.

Itâs crazy but cool idea⊠you can have children[/quote]
Why not, but you have to play at least for nine months, you want it realistic, do you not?
If the player-character where to have a child in the first act itâd be almost grown up just in time for the Huissit wars. So it could be the player-character for a sequel.
Maaan, and there was I thinking it was invented by some perverted people in the 1960s, under the influence of drugs and rockânâroll.
I am for realistic for the game, but come on seriously? There are plenty other games out there that you can have sex scenes in. Leave this game without that crap. Sex scenes dont serve any purpose in a game. This may be an RPG, but is it really gonna serve a purpose? Lets say that you can have children in the game, you will never be able to continue on the story as the child when your character gets old and/or dies off. So I see no purpose other than to arouse players that dont get any. Not to mention that it will then restrict anyone that is not legally an adult to purchase the game.
Really such sarcasm failure.
I meant, as normal people would have understand, that sex wasnât frowned upon as it is mostly done these days. whorehouses were frequented by noble knights as much as priests, merchants and anyone who had money.
High profile arranged marriages were forcfully consumated with the family making sure it did.
If I wanted a combat game. I would play something else. What got me interested in this game is the immersion there adding to the game including crafting and for thews that cant handle a little true immersion there should be a option to turn off some things so some people can play without seeing shorten things am not talking about adding nudity every were but were it would be as if you were there back in the day in real life. Ive seen games out that can turn things like this off for those that cant handle blood/cursing/and other things why not a barbie and nude option
Acctually thatâs not quite true, at least not untill later on when the church clapmed down and decreed that all marriges had to be in the sight of god,
All it took for a marrige to be legaly binding was for someone to say they where marrying so n so and then spend five nights under the same roof as them and have two witnesses to back you up and the marrige was legal. They did not need to force themselves on a person to âconsumateâ the marrige they just had to play the waiting game and make sure they did not escape.
For âcommonâ people it was even easyer to get married, they simply had to say the both wanted to marry each other ifront of two witnesses and that was it, again no consumation/sex needed.
Also yes there where sex workers and whilst âallowedâ they where outside of the citys durestiction.
They where not respected at all, non of those women nor thier offspring from such unions where burried on consicrated ground. Cross Bones Graveyard in London is just one example of where such women ended up in death.
As for how sex was viewed, itâs tricky, people where not as âprudishâ, my partner bought me a archery bracer with penises on it, itâs an authentic Medeival pattern⊠I know I with a goood un! lol
âŠbut the vast majority of Europ was Catholic and sex was purly meant to be for procriation and it was considered a sin to engage in it otherwise, people who where not married to each other who just jumped into bed together, if found out, would have not been looked on with acceptance by the community.
