Should I attempt to play again or not?

Made an account to ask an important question that only the KCD forum regulars can answer.

To start things off, I love the game. I bought it during the summer and loved how original and fun it was. The game’s problems prevented me from playing anymore from the point where I was so I stopped playing any further. I didn’t want to rush through it and wanted to play the game at the best possible state.

I recently aquired some time off from work and the only game I really want to invest time in is KCD but I’m not sure how playable it is these days. So my question is, is the game playable from start to finish without too many bugs that break immersion? I don’t want to get really far in the game and then something happens to where I wasted time playing and have to wait for another update. I should also mention that I won’t have any time to invest in KCD anytime soon so it’s important to me that I’m able to enjoy this game with the time I have. Any help would be greatly appreciated, guys. Thanks.

P.s. I’m also on a standard PS4 running the latest patch if that helps any with the responses.

At the moment, the game seems fairly stable, if a bit rougher than it was in the Spring. In their efforts to optimize and bugfix, some of the graphics have taken a hit, and there are asset loading and layer clipping issues.

That said, the newest DLC is going to drop sometime in the next week, along with another patch that will bring new free content (tournament questline and new equipment), so the state of the game could look completely different by next weekend. :slight_smile:

Yeah. The last update was long time ago. Might actually fix some problems. Besides, consoles are not so well optimized for KCD… FPS and some features. And you should expect some immersion bugs like clipping, blurry textures, missing heads, one or two broken side quests, well, for this I can not be sure as they were broken in old version and I did not replay since. However, there seems to be different experience for players when we are talking about bugs, some have very few, some had broken main story, however, never saw totally broken gameplay.

As long as I’m able to start a game and finish it without the game bugging out on me and preventing progress, I’ll be satisfied.

Then go on, but it is better if you really wait for the new update as it may complicate some small stuff in the future. Update and DLC are supposed to be dropped till 14th October. So this week. So you can at least pre install it :smiley:

I play on the PC and am on my 5th playthrough. I have not experienced any game busters in the game, just minor annoyances. Great play, I say wait for the next update and start afresh.

I started and have had some problems but nothing game breaking. Just plastic npc’s due to slow texture loading I’m guessing and hans capon stuck in a stance during challenge fight and after as well. He was walking like he had a sword in his hand. Other than that nothing else.
