It’s not very immersive, using other people’s beds for sleeping. In the full game, are we going to buy houses, or build one? Or maybe set up a camp in the forest with a tent to sleep in and a fire to cook raw meat you hunted, and maybe a place to store stuff?
That sounds really nice in theory, but after I’ve tried Skyrim with a lot of realism inducing mods (need to sleep/eat/drink, darker nights, realistic dmg etc…), I’ve quickly found the experience too frustrating. It was not hard to play, but I ended up micromanaging the basic “needs” half the time I was playing, which is something I’m not really into. So while I’m for “realism”, I hope KCD won’t go too far into the “simulation of reality” genre.
You are a refugee in wartime… now isn’t the moment I’d be purchasing or rebuilding a new dwelling.
You are provided bed spaces for pursuing certain roles in some regions, as you are in service of various important characters, and you should have the option to pay for a bed in taverns. Otherwise the ‘wayfarer’ beds in outhouses are provided in ample proportion to never be short. Only after that do you need to fall on the option of sharing someone else’s bedspace in their private accomodation.
I’d imagine a medieval traveler would sleep next to coals of burnt-out campfire, using his horse as warmer/pillow and a night burglar alarm (for expensive plate mail that’s horrible to sleep with while wearing)
From what I gather, this is not happening in KCD
Have you played the alpha? They already implemented survival things such as hunger and rest.
I believe there is this magnifying glass thingy at the top right of the screen that allows you to search for such things but idk
Paying for bed would be sweet option. Not everywhere available, but if for example there was free bed (someone from house died recently), you could take his bed for a night after agreement with the other people living there.
That’s actually a great idea. I feel like, because Henry is traveling around, the way to get sleep is to stop in settlements and pay for a bed. It could be at a tavern or someone’s house with a free bed. There should also be inns along the roads in the middle of nowhere that you can stop at and pay for a room.
Yeah, I was too lazy to search for something. But how about you either have a good answer or just don’t say anything at all? You don’t need to come in and tell me that somebody else might have asked the same question.
