i was wanting to know if you guys could give me any info as to whether this pc is decent for gaming? I mainly only game on my ps4
I’m not fan of already built pc’s also 1 TB, for me atleast, isn’t enough…
I guess you should be able to play games on decent frames on medium, maybe low.
There are two main piece of information missing:
- The CPU
- The GPU (graphic card)
Without knowing any of this two, we can’t really tell if it is good for gaming or not. Also, you might want to know if the hard-drive is a 7200 rpm HDD or a 5400 rpm HDD, the latter being slower and making the loading of game files slower.
8GB RAM isn’t much, not for a brand new PC. I would pick 16GB for sure. DVD drive is useless, imo, we live in a digital age, i didn’t need insert DVD for three years at least
And as you was already told, we missing there what CPU and GPU. Two most important things on the gaming pc

So, from what I’ve seen in the link, the PC is not very suited for gaming. You’ll have to play on the lowest settings most of the time. There will be even games that won’t simply run this PC. What is your budget? How much you’re willing to put on a new PC? I might be able to direct you to better PCs (just tell me if you live in the US or not).
One thing you might be interested in is building your own PC. For the same amount, you have a PC with better specs and with quality parts you have chosen. You’ll also feel the pride of mounting your own PC. Nowadays, it isn’t difficult to put the parts together(almost like legos). There are plenty of tutorials on the internet and plenty of people ready to help you. If you aren’t afraid of handling a screwdriver and you have reasonably careful hands, you might want to build it yourself.
If you want to build your own PC I would recommend checking out these guides

And check out the youtube guide for assembling
Building your own PC is a lot of fun
We can help you finding a good pc but you have to tell us what games you play, how much money you want to spent and if you want to play on maximum settings.
Your current choice will run most of the older games but I don’t think you will be able to run BF4 on enjoyable settings.

Here is the Ranking of your graphic card.
If you want good graphics I would recommend something like the GTX 660 and R9 270 you can get them under 200$ and they have a good performance.
Conclusion to your choice: You will be able to play most games but the newest only on low settings. What you could do is start with this build and later buy a new graphic card.
get one built. it’s way way cheaper and you if you don’t make stupid mistakes it’s also a more optimal set.
From information on website:
-
AMD Quad-Core A10-6700 processor with AMD Radeon HD 8670D graphics
Ensures reliable performance.
This may be OK. I prefer Intel/Nvidia combo, but that is personal preference.
although looking at benchmarks I have to say that nowadays it is below average processor and the card isn’t anything to write about either.
-
8GB DDR3 memory.
For multitasking power, expandable to 12GB.
Standard. I wouldn’t say it is bad but it is expandable only to 12GB and three years ago I was buying 16GB. 8GB is ok but it is starting to be standard and you don’t have much option to expand it
-
Multiformat DVD±RW/CD-RW drive
Create custom DVDs and CDs.
Not really needed nowadays, but ok
-
4MB L2 cache memory
Provides efficient system processing.
OK, but not really important information in this case IMHO. Newer processors are lot faster and have smaller L2 cache
-
1TB Serial ATA III hard drive (7200 rpm)
Offers spacious storage and fast read/write times.
This is good.
-
AMD Radeon HD 8670D graphics
Feature shared video memory for lush images with rich, intricate detail. HDMI output allows simple connection to an HDTV or other high-definition display (not included).
As mentioned previously the card may have been good few year ago. Now it is crap.
-
6-in-1 media reader
Supports Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO, MultiMediaCard, Secure Digital, Secure Digital High Capacity and xD-Picture Card formats.
OK. Not entirely necessary.
-
2 USB 3.0 and 6 USB 2.0 ports
For fast digital video, audio and data transfer.
Standard, wouldn’t even consider buying PC without.
-
Built-in high-speed wireless LAN (802.11ac)
Lets you connect to the Internet without wires.
Ok.
-
Bluetooth 4.0 interface
Enables easy pairing with other Bluetooth-enabled devices, such as a cell phone or MP3 player.
I tried using Bluetooth few times but unless you have Bluetooth headphones than it is not really necessary.
-
Built-in 10/100/1000 Ethernet LAN With RJ-45 connector
allows quick and simple wired Web connection.
Standard
-
Microsoft Windows 8.1 64-bit operating system preinstalled
Provides a stable platform for word processing, Web navigation, gaming, media storage and more.
Software. I don’t claim to be expert on Windows - I use mainly Linux, but I am slightly afraid how well will Win 8.1 perform on this build
-
Software package included
With Adobe Reader and more. Includes 30-day trial of Microsoft Office 2013.
Software, may be absolute bloatware that will just slow down the computer.
Conclusion. This isn’t IMHO good computer for gaming. It may be OK for office work but anything more no.
Edit: I just checked the price and for 500$ it is IMHO OK computer. You could do better with custom build, but this is relatively OK.
Well as I said, all my gaming is done on ps4. This I think maybe fine for me to dabble in a bit. Really me and my wife just needed a new computer period. It runs solid, and is quite quick in my view. I understand it’s not a “gaming” PC. But that’s ok too, because I know nothing about gaming pc’s and how to optimize them either.
But what programs do you think should be dumped?
What’s to know? There’s no a significant difference between the 2 platforms other than the PC is far more versatile… It’s not computer science… ;p
As to which applications to trim… exercise caution. Bloatware is yet another of those things you wouldn’t have to deal with if you opted to roll your own.
Oh, ok.
We have stumbled upon this site. However it is a bit misleading it has a bunch of well organized info in one place and there is some neat table of options.
I would go for the Excellent build with some minor tweaks:
- 16GB RAM instead of 8GB
- I would dump the SSD as I don’t care about fast system startup
- Instead I would use ~300GB HDD as a system drive and 1-3TB HDD as a data drive
You should be able to run anything on High settings in 1920*1200 with single display gaming setup
