True but will it be possible to acquire other kinds of maille in the game? I for example made 8 in 2 maille in real life and it’s remarkable awesome:)
Since this game is about Europe seeing anything but 4 in 1 is unlikely 6 in 1 is possible but not common. 8 in 2 is a modern idea and no examples have been found. I can’t see our character making it in game because with a full shop of apprentices it still takes a long time to put more than a small piece together,

ya, i think he hit him in the neck though, were the armor wasn’t protecting him.
You ride your horse next to a couple of peasants, covering them in mud, and they yell “HEY!!” and shake their fists towards you, promising vengenace 
RE: hammers vs. plate armour
Try wearing a metal bucket on your head and have someone whack it with something solid. You’d get concussed quite easy with a hammer blow to the (plate) head, even if the hit doesn’t damage the armour itself.
That’s butted mail, they might as well be using pepsi bottles.
PS, I always liked this video in which Mike Loades shows how a tempered breastplate remains intact after a blow from a pollaxe yet doesn’t protect the wearer 100%. Keep in mind they already fired two arrows against it.

The last 5 minutes (subject shock waves) are interesting. Think pain to to loss of consciousness were the bigger problem besides injuries.
